Been seeing people say the gap between Tatum and Brown is small so let’s compare Brown to literally 85% of Tatum offensively these playoffs.
The difference in ecosystem creation is absurd.
With Tatum ON:
• +7.8 rORTG
• +7.6 rFirst Chance creation
• +9.3% TS on/off
• +2.6 rAST%
• +11.7% 3PA frequency
• +6.3% rim accuracy
Boston generated way more efficient looks at BOTH the rim and from 3 with him on the floor. That’s offensive ecosystem impact.
With Tatum OFF:
• -8.8 rORTG
• -9.4 rFirst Chance creation
• -9.7% rim frequency
• -7.5 rTS%
• offense completely lost rim pressure and advantage creation
Now compare the WOWY data:
Tatum without Brown:
• 52.4% 3PA freq
• 38.8% from 3
• 78.2% at rim
• 43.7% mid-range
Brown without Tatum:
• 47.7% 3PA freq
• 32.1% from 3
• 65.6% at rim
• 39.0% mid-range
One lineup still generated elite spacing + rim efficiency. The other completely collapsed stylistically.
And Brown’s own impact metrics are rough this run:
Brown ON:
• -5.6 rORTG
• -6.1 rFirst Chance creation
• -4.9% TS
• -9.0% rim frequency
• -1.3 rAST%
• -1.4 rTOV%
Brown OFF:
• +24.4 rORTG
• +24.9 rFirst Chance creation
• +8.2% TS
• +8.1 rAST%
• -5.4 rTOV%
Again, on/offs alone are not the end all be all. But when the on/offs match the WOWY data, shot profile changes, rim pressure changes, spacing changes, creation, ecosystem changes, and years worth of sample size, it absolutely means something.
Tatum is the offensive engine.
Brown is the beneficiary of it.
They are not close to the same…
@BiggLynch If you believe this, you don’t have any analytical skills. He later says “let’s not act like his frustrations are new”… so you ARE saying he is frustrated
@John_Karalis Tmac is such a shit show. It’s so easy to read him. Says it’s coming from a place of speculation but the. Later in this clip says “let’s not act like his frustration is new”. Like what??
@NoaDalzell Okay but he said “there’s a lot of stuff I am hearing”… that implies someone telling him. He could have said it’s speculation. Just a weird way to put it. Somebody is lying
Giannis Antetokounmpo is expected to “put his foot on the scale” in terms of pushing a trade towards a team he wants to play for, per @sam_amick

@cgasper@985TheSportsHub@FelgerAndMazz Again I see your point but Tatum was not fully developed at that point so it’s unfair to compare 2021 to 2026. 2026 Tatum would have absolutely carried that team past the nets with that group
