I read one news yesterday that really shook me – a newly hired employee at a Big 4 firm took their own life due to extreme work pressure. While this tragedy is deeply saddening, it also brings to light a critical issue in corporate cultures: the perceived polarization between **management and employees**.

In many organizations, there’s a growing gap between how management and employees perceive each other. Employees often feel that management prioritizes profits and efficiency at the cost of well-being, while management may think employees are resistant to hard work or change. This perception gap creates tension, which intensifies stress, isolates individuals, and ultimately fosters toxic environments.

What’s heartbreaking is that this divide is often more about perception than reality. Most managers want their teams to thrive and succeed, but the way priorities are communicated and executed can make it seem otherwise. On the other hand, many employees are more than willing to work hard, but without feeling understood, they may perceive management as unsympathetic or disconnected from their day-to-day struggles.

It’s time for leaders and organizations to **bridge this perceived polarization**. Open conversations, empathy, and genuine care for mental health can turn this around. Let’s not wait for more tragedies before we act. Workplaces must become spaces where well-being is just as important as performance.
