PlayStation fans are massively cancelling their PS Plus subscriptions to protest Sony’s move toward a digital-only future.
Many players are sharing screenshots of their cancelled subscriptions online, this is one of the few ways gamers can send a clear message to Sony that they want games on physical discs.
Money is the only language these companies understand.
Everyone is worried about game ownership and preserving games
Keep the backlash.
People see this and they want to give up. It's already over.
Wrong.
You're the customer, it's your money. Sony is POWERLESS without YOUR money
You have a 3 month window to send THAT message to Sony & ensure they DON'T forget it
This CAN be reversed. Don't believe it can't.
I’ve never seen this level of crashout in gaming before 😳
People are canceling PS Plus, saying no to the PS6, and my feed is full of posts criticizing both Playstation and the people who defend it.
Yet Sony probably won’t care and will just continue with business as usual imo.
If you have to abandon your social media so your community managers don't have to deal with dozens of insults and threats because of the decisions you took then MAYBE, just maybe, it was a decision you shouldn't have taken in the first place
I hope PS6 flops, I hope the new Xbox flops, I hope GTA 6 flops, I hope they all lose millions of dollars.
Screw these corpos and the "future" they want to force us through.
Sony tried teasing the upcoming release of ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
All the top comments called them out for stopping PlayStation disc production in 2028
'Bullying the brand' (PR damage) does work, but you're going to have to sustain this level of outrage for a very long time and make the brand completely toxic to everyone for them to change their plans.
Sony is banking on people forgetting/moving on and giving up after a month.
We heard you. And we agree.
In light of recent developments in physical media, GitHub is proud to announce that you can now obtain your public repo on CD-ROM.
Keep it. Lend it to friends. Pass it on to your children.
Your code is physically yours, forever. Until you lose it, let's be real.

Several companies have criticized Sony’s decision to stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs starting in 2028.
iam8bit said it is “profoundly disappointed,” adding, Physical games are vital to games preservation, ownership, and consumer choice.”
GameFly also said it was disappointed, saying physical games have been a core part of the company since it was founded.
Players are calling for a Sony boycott and say they won’t buy the PS6 unless Sony changes its decision to stop releasing new PlayStation games on physical discs.
I want to clarify something: I'm not even a console gamer. The last console I owned was an Xbox 360. I've been on PC ever since, and yes, I've pirated plenty of games over the years.
This decision doesn't directly affect me, but that doesn't mean I want it to happen.
What's driving me insane is seeing PC gamers acting smug like they're somehow immune. "I only play on PC." "I've never cared about physical discs anyway."
Congratulations. You think they stop with consoles?
Game prices are going to keep climbing if consumers keep accepting every new price hike. Those collector's editions so many PC gamers drool over? Wait until physical media becomes a niche luxury and they're charging $1,000 because it's "exclusive." Wait until a storefront goes down, your account gets compromised, or a service shuts off and years of purchases become inaccessible.
This isn't a console problem. It's a consumer problem. If companies learn they can charge more, give you less, and remove ownership entirely without meaningful pushback, they'll keep doing it everywhere.
I’m genuinely interested in how PlayStation is reacting internally over the last 24 hours. I’m certain they expected backlash but surely not to the extent I’ve seen online so far.
We own nothing. We own a PS download code. a Spotify subscription, a Netflix password, an MS Office license. Corporations are keeping all the power and they will weaponize it when the time is right.
cutting physical media cuts costs only for the company. they get to save on production, design, shipping and still charge the same thing with nothing being passed on to the consumer

This is the biggest pushback Sony has gotten since the launch of PS3
I remember being SO excited for PS5 and now I dread to even think about the PS6.
PlayStation have a LOT to do if they want to get fans back on their side… and I just can’t see how they do it.
