🇰🇷 Today, millions of South Koreans took to the streets, demanding the impeachment of centrist President Lee Jae-myung and positioning themselves against the Chinese Communist Party and communism. Today is also Korea's National Foundation Day. 🔥
Japan’s court order to dissolve a religious group known as the Unification Church is not Japan’s private affair. It is an international one.
The lawyers’ group that pushed that dissolution hardest on Japanese television, Zenkoku Benren, has been praised by China’s Anti-Cult Association and has a cooperation pact with a South Korean anti-cult network.
Former U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback called this the first tile in a “dark alliance,” with China behind it.
South Korean President Lee Jae-myung has already told his cabinet to study a Japan-style dissolution system. If that bill passes, religious freedom in South Korea will start to come apart.
Can this still be treated as just a church issue inside Japan? Or is it the beginning of cross-border religious control?
