Today, the people of Viet Nam commemorate Reunification Day, also known as Liberation Day. On 30 April, this historic moment in 1975 marked the beginning of the country’s transition toward reunification. The process culminated in national elections that brought together the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Viet Nam and the Democratic Republic of Viet Nam, paving the way for the establishment of the modern nation officially known as the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
