As previously stated, I am trying to work with the administration and regional partners to prevent a bloodbath in Syria against our Kurdish allies. It is now time for the region to change their ways and man up for decency.
To Saudi Arabia: I have tried to work hard to chart a new path for relations between your country, the United States and the region. I have tremendous respect for many of the changes that have been embraced. However, the Kingdom’s attack on the United Arab Emirates and their silence regarding the Syrian government’s constant assault on the Kurds has to change. Please understand that I am smart enough to know that Saudi Arabia has influence on the Syrian government, and I expect them to use it to keep the region from falling further into chaos.
To Saudi Arabia: Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Watching the deteriorating situation in Syria with great concern. The Kurds are under threat from the new Syrian government that is aligned with Turkey.
It would be a disaster for America’s reputation and national security interests to abandon the Kurds, who were the chief ally in destroying the ISIS caliphate.
Therefore, I will be introducing legislation this week designed to impose crippling sanctions on any government or group engaged in hostilities against the Kurds. The Save the Kurds Act, I believe, will receive strong bipartisan support and must have teeth to make it effective.
Stay tuned.
Wishing the women of Kurdistan, Iraq and the rest of the world a joyful International Women’s Day. I reiterate my staunch support for the rights of Kurdish women and I highly hold in esteem their role in the struggle and liberation of our people.
I express my closeness and solidarity with the victims, all civilians, of the missile attack that hit Erbil, in Iraqi Kurdistan. I urge everyone to avoid any steps that might escalate tension in the Middle East and other war-torn areas.

A football match does not stop the Turkish nationalists from showing their true colours towards Kurds. This is how Kurds are treated in Turkey people. This was in todays match between Turkey’s Bursaspor and Kurdistan’s Amedspor. Yes I said Kurdistan, cry.
Today at the final of the World Cup, I only hope the players on the field and the whole world remembers that there’s a man and fellow footballer called Amir Nasr, on death row, only for speaking in favor of Women’s rights.
