@Secellgible@MusliuKastriot@StarkConor You understand philosophy as innovative things, and simply it's our ancestors views but the modern Hegelian paradigm.
Because if you look at mulla Sandra's philosophy also you find not even the evidence as new ones. Only repeat and expansion his ancestor beliefs
@Secellgible@MusliuKastriot@StarkConor It is just that we should be grateful, not only to those with whose views we may agree, but also to those who have expressed more superficial views; for these also contributed something, by developing before us the powers of thought.
-Aristotle Metaphysic: alpha lesser
@Secellgible@MusliuKastriot@StarkConor If you reduce philosophy in pure subjective theories which represent by one person.
So all philosophy stopped in the greek periods. Because every element - principle of islamic/western philosophy is repeated in different interpretation.
@Secellgible@MusliuKastriot@StarkConor My point is:
What's philosophy in the first place?
Philosophy is studying of existence as its. So we interpret reality respect to Existance as its.
Thomas do that as ghazali and jurjani ect
If that's the case by definition, so thomas Aquinas also is philosopher.
@Secellgible@MusliuKastriot@StarkConor It's not tarjid it's tajrid al itiqad.
And yes Aquinas have his own thoughts as ashari or ghazali or al razi have it.
No one can disagree that the jurjani have his own thoughts also razi, ghazali.
But they didn't build all their thoughts by their own.
@Secellgible@StarkConor You are wrong about Thomas Aquainas.
I'm muslim but there's a lot of difference between thomas to aviecena & Averroes.
About theory of 10 intellect and active intellect....etc
That's not how philosophy works.
Right all of them Aristotelian. But they're not pure Aristotelian
@redbridegroom Al dawani wasn't believed in Divine Simplicity, and he rejects this idea in Sharh Al Adhudiah
He believes that you cannot speak about Attribute In rational sense, but only by kashf
@FeserEdward I don't say God is Composed, He is simple but the idea God is abstracted from All Attributes is rejected by Imam Al ashari'e and all sunni scholars.
Orientalists say al-Ghazali destroyed Islamic civilization by criticizing Avicenna. Modernist say Aristotelian metaphysics caused Europes Dark Ages. But Avicenna is Aristotelian. If Aristotle ruined the West, why blame al-Ghazali for critiquing the same system? Both claim is myth
@FeserEdward A defining feature of modernity is the unreflective use of terms without grasping their conceptual depth. Indeed, many of the concepts that have become widespread in modern discourse lack any intrinsic or ultimate meaning.
Kant built philosophy on "empty categories" (like causality) - mere mental constructs that only order phenomena, not reality.
But this doomed him to the very Conceptualism he despised. A circular prison (using empty concepts to prove we're trapped in concepts.) He never escaped.
Iโm a conservative and a Catholic of the most old-fashioned kind. But this condescending attitude too many right-wingers have toward Islam is idiotic and counterproductive. Say what you will about Islam, it built a formidable civilization and produced thinkers of genius. Even in the age of Western hegemony, it continues to show a self-confidence that the decadent West lacks. Most importantly, it worships God, while modern Westerners worship themselves and their appetites. Part of knowing your rival is acknowledging and respecting his strengths and not just identifying his weaknesses.
