I am pleased to welcome His Beatitude Patriarch Mar Polis III Nona, Patriarch of the Chaldean Church in Iraq and the world, to the Kurdistan Region.
I congratulated His Beatitude on assuming his new role and expressed the KRG's support for the success of his mission.
A Statement from President Masoud Barzani:
For some time now, and in light of the particular political circumstances that have arisen, some parties have been raising the issue of the Peshmerga’s weapons, offering misinterpretations and misguided views on the matter. It is therefore necessary to remind everyone that the Peshmerga was born from the blood, suffering, and tears of the people of Kurdistan.
The weapon of the Peshmerga is not iron, ammunition, or instruments of war. The weapon of the Peshmerga is its history, sacrifice, dignity, and belief. It is the loyalty and commitment the Peshmerga has always upheld toward its people, its land, and its homeland.

On the occasion of Kurdish Journalism Day and the publication of the first issue of Kurdistan newspaper by Mir Miqdad Madhat Badirkhan, which is also the anniversary of the establishment of Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate, I congratulate all journalists in Kurdistan and thank them for their work.
Today we recall our commitment to defending the freedom of the press and journalism and facilitating the work of journalists in Kurdistan.
On the occasion of the Ezidi new year, I extend my warmest congratulations to all our Ezidi sisters and brothers in Kurdistan and around the world. I hope they celebrate this occasion in peace and tranquility.
We reaffirm the KRG’s support for the rights and demands of our Ezidi sisters and brothers.
Happy Ezidi new year, I wish you happiness and joy.
The Anfal genocide campaign was among the most brutal ethnic cleansing and genocide operations carried out by the former Iraqi regime against the people of Kurdistan. The Anfal genocide resulted in the disappearance and martyrdom of thousands of innocent people of Kurdistan and the destruction of thousands of Kurdish villages and rural communities.
The genocide and the massacres committed against the people of Kurdistan must always remain in our memory, and our future generations must know that the achievements we have today were not gained easily, nor were they granted by anyone, but are the fruits of the struggle and the blood of thousands of Kurdistani martyrs.
On this occasion, we reaffirm that the Iraqi government must fulfill its moral and constitutional responsibility and provide proper reparations to the families of Kurdistan’s martyrs and victims of the Anfal genocide.
On the 38th anniversary of Anfal, we pay tribute to the victims and all the martyrs of Kurdistan.
I am deeply saddened by the news of a drone attack on the residence of a Peshmerga family in Erbil, which resulted in the martyrdom of him and his wife. I condemn this heinous crime in the strongest terms and denounce its perpetrators.
The targeting of civilians and civilian homes is a war crime. We will convey the voice of the victims to the international community to help end the oppression and the unjustified attacks against the people of the Kurdistan Region.

Spoke with Prime Minister @masrourbarzani of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Iranian attacks and attacks by pro-Iranian militias undermine stability and create an unsafe situation. De-escalation is necessary for stability in Iraq and the region. Also relevant to our own security.
During a call phone Yvette Cooper the Secretary of State for Foreign of the United Kingdom offers her condolences to Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, over the martyrdom of six Peshmerga members and strongly condemns the attack on his residence.
“The Iraqi authorities must clarify their position: either they acknowledge that they are unable to prevent these unlawful groups, or they must act seriously to uphold the state and take firm measures...”

President #Barzani to the Iraqi Government: The attacks on Kurdistan cannot be resolved through condemnations, phone calls, telegrams, and committees. Iraqi authorities must take a decisive stand; they must either declare that they are unable to prevent these outlaw groups.
