@ThePostman68@promotetheshow@pennsboromagic@xrevents218 As someone who used to sit in the old covered grandstand at Pennsboro beginning in the late 1960s, and watching such competitors as Butch Hartman (before his USAC days) and Don Gregory (prior to his ASA days), it was fantastic to see cars on that track again!
@JLaFrance3WV His place was close to Pete Smith’s garage (the West Virginia Sprinter) and he used to take our worn out tires. That’s probably one of ours on his left rear.
@JLaFrance3WV Super nice guy! He first raced in 1959, and so he competed in the ‘50s, ‘60s, ‘70s, ‘80s, and ‘90s. His wife was my high school English teacher.
@MatthewDillner@IMS It has been some of the absolute best racing I’ve ever seen the past few years. Unfortunately, the change of dates precludes me from attending this year. I certainly hope you enjoy it as much as I have!
@LesleeLTMD @JLaFrance3WV @WendyAQuinn It was an important place for me to stop while I was out there (after I was at the Sprint Car Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Iowa).
@JLaFrance3WV @MgtnBrewCo@SharonSpdwy Sharon isn’t a bad drive from Morgantown. Both the sprints and the modifieds provided fantastic races! I’m glad I went up there to see it in person, because there was action all over the track. Here some mods for you.
@GarfieldNPS That’s the bell outside the dining room hanging above the stairway leading up to the library. I enjoyed my visit there last month (which was prompted by your creative comments on Twitter).
@ThePostman68@Josh6williams I wish they would run the Legend Cars Winternationals AFTER the Daytona 500. There is so much going on at Volusia, New Smyrna, etc., that I never make it over to Citrus County Speedway. Then, after the 500 is over, there is nothing (even though Monday is a holiday for many folks)
@JLaFrance3WV The “West Virginia Sprinter” (a hillbilly running towards an outhouse) was on all of Pete Smith’s sprint cars (based in Parkersburg) for decades. My dad was a part owner of this team in the ‘70s/‘80s.
@BobbyMarkos@HoweRacing@RaceFairgrounds@ToledoSpeedway This article has a photo of Cale Yarborough standing beside a green Howe Camaro at Midvale during another of their big races.

I remember going to a few of these special invitational races. One time Tye Long decided to try asphalt racing in his dirt car.
