I like XBA because that takes LUCK out of the equation. Jarren Duran for example - the eye test says he has been hitting into bad luck all year and XBA verifies that. His BA on fastballs is 50 points lower than his XBA on fastballs. Not a good season for him but could be better!

If you go back to the '86 pennant winners, Don Baylor was clutch - HRs and RBIs and I think he hit .220. Nobody cared what his average was. Same with Duran. Who cares what he hits. It's his ability to drive in runs in key spots, his speed and his defense. And if he does get on a roll, he'll carry the offense.
