We fell in love with Love and Deepspace because it introduced many of us to Chinese storytelling, culture, and landmarks. The game made us want to learn more about China and even inspired some of us to hope to visit one day.

That's why this situation is so heartbreaking and quite frankly DISAPPOINTING.

Seeing this controversy framed through what we believe are inaccurate or incomplete narratives has shaken our trust because of how this specific situation has been handled and reported.

We hope for accurate reporting, fair treatment, and open communication so that trust can be rebuilt.

Women's safety is an issue that deserves to be treated with the utmost seriousness. If it is used without proper context or in a misleading way, it risks harming public trust and overshadowing genuine discussions about protecting women.

Valko’s wolf-inspired traits are therefore not simply aesthetic choices, but part of a carefully constructed character concept.

Because of this, interpreting his actions and interactions with MC as something inherently lacking playfulness or affection misrepresents the very characteristics that inspired his creation.

I wasn't sure whether I should share this publicly.

Over the last few days, I've watched countless discussions, debates, and arguments. Somewhere along the way, I realized that I hadn't seen many people talking directly to the developers the artists, writers, programmers, musicians, translators, QA testers, and everyone else who poured years of their lives into creating Love and Deepspace.

So I wrote this letter.

It's simply a message of gratitude and encouragement from one player to the people whose work meant more to me than they will probably ever know.

Note: This letter is addressed to the developers and creators of Love and Deepspace, not to the company's management. Supporting the developers does not automatically mean agreeing with every decision made by the company.

I came across this YouTube video by Kalvin Winters being shared on Twitter that is 39 minutes long and explains the whole Love and Deepspace and Valko situation from start to present.

It's extremely informative and also provides insight into what exactly is happening and why it happened in the first place.

Everything boils down to pretty much these two options, written by the content creator:

Best Case Scenario: Issue is blown over after a few months and Valko is quietly delayed and released

Worst Case Scenario: Valko is gone forever and LADS is scrubbing everything and pretending nothing ever happened

I hope that the former is the path Papergames/Infold chooses as that will be a beautiful way to end this madness and prove to the world that the character was never intended to be portrayed in any negative light within the game.

However, in order to do so, they will have to clear a lot of legalities with the government and potential defamation lawsuits in order to lay the foundation before they can bring Valko back.

The decision ultimately falls to Papergames themselves, not the CCP, not the press, not the fans.

At the moment for me personally, it's hard to play the game and look past the controversy, and Valko's absence from the game can be felt all over.

I think that many people feel the same way, and the way they consume the game will never be the same again since we KNOW that there once was supposed to be a 6th character to tie the story together.

And if Valko does not return and the other 5 characters absorb his intended story, then with every new story that is released from here on out, there will forever be a question of "was this plot point supposed to be Valko's or not?"

I just hope Papergames/Infold makes the right decision.
