Your performance grows from some things you learn only in the contest, not in training. You can learn to spot right cues and turn them to advantage faster than the opposition. But just as important is the skill to spot false cues faster and to ignore them
To change something in your swing you generally need to practice the extreme opposite. You can’t go from a slice to a straight shot, you must practice a hook first. Soon your swing will settle in the middle. To get rid of a hook practice a slice not a small draw #paddysgolftips
My 5-handicap friend:
"I can't believe I made bogey from 100 yards in the middle of the fairway."
Me:
"From 100 yards in the fairway, 5-caps make bogey or worse about 27% of the time."

Thank you for all of the birthday messages. My birth certificate says I’m 86 but that’s hard to believe! I’m grateful to still feel full of life and cherish each new day and year. I’m looking forward to more time with loved ones, more rounds of golf, and yes, more gym sessions.
A golfer can bogey half their holes on a par-72 course and shoot in the 70s if they birdie only two holes (or eagle one).
Want to shoot low scores? Make a lot of pars and rarely make doubles or worse. Birdies happen. Stop trying to force them.
