@chimeraxmachina If you can't comprehend that religion is a superstructural aspect of society, you can't be a communist. Thus a communist can not be religious. That doesn't mean religion is inherently reactionary but that's not the issue anyway.
Organising within the DSA in hopes of creating a revolutionary break in the organisation is not without precedent (perhaps it is in the US, but not globally). completely rejecting such tactic because of the revisionist or even outright utopian tendencies in the DSA is idealistic.

@b4dchan This is irrelevant to the topic at hand, all of those societies were patrician dictatorships whether they were "democractic" or not. That's not the question at hand. Sumeria's slavery not being as intense is not them being more progressive, on the contrary it's their inability.
Oh, Irish men, the day will come
When workers one and all
Will rise up from their bended knees
And shout from shore to shore
For a workingmen's republic
and for freedom evermore
And Connolly will be there
Connolly will be there
Bold, brave, undaunted
Jamed Connolly will be there
Can't talk about martyrdom without acknowledging at least three discrete, in ways opposite, definitions.
Marxist: martyrdom is death in struggle, and a lesson on what to avoid next time. We honour those who died *only* by avoiding their mistakes so that we don't die, but win.
@hiZ0EY the 3rd proposition (which is more of an assumption) doesn't follow from the first two, you must make a separate case for it. dotp doesn't reaffirm class antagonism, its itself the abolishment of class antagonisms, through the destruction of class relations of past society.
It is important to resist the commodification of basic human needs. Food, water and healthcare cannot be subordinated to market considerations or geopolitical interests. Access to adequate food is a fundamental human right grounded in the dignity of every person. Meeting this need not only alleviates suffering but also addresses underlying causes of geopolitical instability. Indeed, food security is an essential component of global and integral security. https://t.co/DgkM9RegJ7
Socialism is not a rejection of property, it is the transformation of capitalist property, as capitalist property was of feudal property and so on. Argentina has, and has had for decades and more capitalist property rights as its basis for its property laws.
@Oliver44982194 socialism is a rejection of private property rights while capitalism is a acceptance of private property rights and the corresponding legal theory, countries tend to be a mix of both however, accepting private property rights to some extent but not fully
