The discourse around paras in fantasy stories has a lot of people screaming at each other, but, as usual, the discussion radiates more heat than light.

This comes down to a clash in values between normal people and communists.

To normal people, art, like everything else, is its own complete endeavor, with its own rules, and its own purposes, that it accomplishes in its own way. If it does that well, it is good art.

Art, in other words, is an end in itself.

To communists, art is not an end, but a means. It, like literally everything else in existence, must serve a single, unified, utopian vision of an ideal society. Art's function, in this vision, is to serve as propaganda.

It therefore does not matter if the story makes any sense, is consistent with its own basic premise, or is any fun at all. It doesn't matter if it's any good or not, it just has to serve its purpose.

The story doesn't matter. Everything must bow. Every facet of life must serve the cause.

For the moment, for the useful idiots posting this stuff, "the cause" is the abstract concept of "fairness" and "representation". But that's part of the plan, see.

The state then presents itself as the agent and enforcer of fairness and representation. And naturally this makes it the arbiter of these things, defining what fairness is.

And fairness is whatever the state wants it to be.

Everything within the state. Nothing outside the state. Nothing against the state.

Because those who make communist coups are those who seek to control the state, and through the state, to control everything. All actual believers in communism are dupes, useful idiots, cannon fodders. Those who actually lead communists are not believers. They believe in nothing but the will to power.

That is why they insist you change your game, your story to accommodate paras. They don't give a shit about paras. In the socialist regime, paras will live the ghetto and eat soylent green.

The point is to exploit your decency, in the service of those who have none. To get you to obey, so that you will obey again, and again, until by the time you notice that the obedience is the point, it's too late.

The people demanding your obedience will get theirs next, and so on, up to food chain. Slippery slope is not a fallacy. It's the way human psychology works.

So, in short, no.

Anytime a communist wants something, no matter how reasonable it sounds, the answer is no.

Because they're communists.
