The US healthcare system is broken.

Two days before we went to Europe we had eye exams. I have tiny mites in my eyelids.

Eye Dr. says pretty common. Says he has seen them 1000 times or more and he was very young. Says new prescription eyedrops kills them. Writes subscription. Says Walgreens Special pharmacy will call me. Says most insurance pays for it and $40 is common copay for 6 weeks of eyedrops. Says if insurance does not cover ask for payment assistance. Tells me to ask for payment assistance twice... Makes appointment for me to come back in 10 weeks.

They (Walgreens) call me in Europe.
I talk to someone and he verifies it is me. Then tells me cost is $1,378.40 for 6 weeks of eye drops. Says I can ask for payment assistance and he can get me approved on this call.

I am stunned...

I have never asked for payment assistance. I could not imagine I would qualify.

Impulsively, I say sure. I was laying in bed reading. He gathered more basic info. Looped in another person on call. They say I qualify for FREE eyedrops since I asked and they are supposedly sitting on my desk at work right now.

Note I gave them no payment info. No income info. Nothing at all.

What is going on?

@bestwestern do not stay at Best Western Plus Yakima. My friend left her wedding ring in her room and didn't realize until about an hour after check out. We came back to the hotel and the front desk did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to assist her. She refused to even call the room.

@adgirlMM The goal is to privatize it all. We've been brainwashed to believe everything the govt does inefficient and privatatizing better. Mass firings ensure ALL depts become ineffecient. Replace with companies the oligarchs own. More $$ for the oligarchs courtesy of the taxpayers.
