Game 3:
In a game that came down to the wire, Ovid-Elsie & Petoskey were within 2 possessions the entire game except for a short stretch in the 3rd qtr where O-E scored 7 straight to go up 34-24, but Petoskey immediately mounted an extended 16-5 run to come back & take the lead at 40-39 by the middle of the 4th. Ava Bates didn't let them lead long, hitting a 3 on the next possession. A little later, Sadie Corey tied it up at 44 with a tough basket through contact, but couldn't convert the old-fashioned 3-pt play. Braeden Tokar then scored on a beautiful backdoor feed from Evelyn Cole to take the lead back & later Tokar hauled in an offensive rebound off a missed FT & sank 2 FTs to give O-E a 5-pt margin, which allowed them to withstand a last second 3 by Petoskey's Nevaeh Leonard. Ovid-Elsie pulls out a 49-47 victory over a scrappy Petoskey team. Soph Haidyn Wegmann had a solid game for Petoskey, handling O-E's pressure well & seeming to make a key 3, assist, or steal every time they needed a play.
