Highlights from the sixth day of Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camp 2026:

Students across Uttarakhand and Goa explored the geographical and historical context of languages through activities centred on rivers, mountains and monuments. Using physical maps, atlases and audiovisual resources, school students learnt about the indigenous names, histories and cultural significance associated with landmarks from different regions of the country.

These learning experiences helped students appreciate the interconnectedness of language, geography and culture while strengthening the spirit of #EkBharatShreshthaBharat.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the academic session of IIM-Guwahati today, marking a milestone for Assam’s education landscape. The session began at the transit campus at Tech City, Bongora, spread over 6410 sq m, as the first step toward the permanent 76.83-hectare campus at Marabhita in Kamrup district.

The Union Cabinet has sanctioned ₹555 crore for setting up the temporary campus, building the permanent one, and running the institute for its first five years. With the inauguration, IIM-Guwahati begins its executive education program, curated by mentor institute IIM-Ahmedabad, with Assam government officers as the first batch. Regular MBA sessions will commence from 2026-27, opening doors for future leaders. IIM-Guwahati is envisioned as a knowledge destination in the North East for holistic human resource development.

An orientation session for Government of India officers on upcoming PM SHRI school visits was held on 13th February, 2026 to brief them on the PM SHRI Scheme and the objective of the visits — to review how #NEP2020 is being implemented in #PMSHRISchools across States and UTs.

Shri Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), emphasised the importance of ensuring quality education in PM SHRI schools. He highlighted the need for effective governance at the block and district levels and stressed the role of empowered headmasters in strengthening overall school functioning.

Shri Dheeraj Sahu, Additional Secretary, DoSEL, spoke about the PM SHRI Scheme, outlined the review points for field visits and presented the portal to be used for uploading inspection reports. In the coming days, Joint Secretary-level officers will undertake school inspection visits to States and UTs to review the functioning of PM SHRI schools, with a focus on the implementation of NEP 2020.

Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education in collaboration with AIFF and FIFA, is organizing the #FootballforSchools (F4S) program across India. On 13th February 2026, distribution of around 2.87 lakh footballs have been initiated through 17 States/UTs in 255 districts, which will fuel the passion for football among students.

The footballs were distributed from Nodal district JNV/KVS in the presence of dignitaries and eminent sports persons. Symbolic football matches using FIFA Football were also organized by the Nodal Centre.
