@anishgiri @anishgiri what do you think about FIDE using the classical rankings to select the 8 candidates? Simply selecting the top 8 ranked players to compete. I think being able to manage your top ranking while competing in the best tournaments show your real strength.

You don't need to press a clock, and that is a major difference. Also, visualizing in 2D on a screen is different from a physical chessboard. All these factors make a big difference.

What's happening in North Carolina right now in the aftermath of Helene is by all rights one of the great scandals in American history. A devastating failure by the federal government.
