On behalf of the government and the people of South Africa I congratulate my dear brother and friend, President @LulaOficial and the people of Brazil.
This victory will echo beyond the shores of Brazil. It is a victory for the global south and progressive forces throughout the world.
We affirm our commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations between our two countries and working closely together in all multilateral fora to forge a just and better world order underpinned by solidarity and adherence to international law.
I'm really not even entertaining anyone who says Test Cricket or SA is dead based on people not showing up in Durban and Gqebz. The organizers KNOW what they did!! They KNOW how South Africa is set up and what its going through! Intention is starting a test on a Sunday! So yeah.
iTemba Lamarhumsha!!! 🤌

You don’t get to conscript my blackness into supporting every black-led party. Rejecting MK’s stated policies and conduct is not an endorsement of white supremacy, and calling those concerns “abstract” does not make them disappear. Black people are allowed to think, assess and reject.
It is a greater threat to democracy than the DA could ever be. A party that wants to weaken constitutional supremacy, concentrate power in Parliament and elevate unelected traditional leaders is not progressive. Add its ethnic nationalism, social conservatism and strongman politics, and its right-wing character becomes impossible to disguise.
I believe in democracy, equal citizenship and constitutional safeguards. I am not convinced MK does. Its first response to an election outcome it disliked was to allege, without proving, that the election had been rigged, attempt to halt Parliament’s first sitting and instruct its elected MPs to boycott it. That is not democratic conduct; it is an attempt to destabilise institutions when democracy does not deliver your preferred result.
With MK, shared blackness is where our commonality begins and ends. Given any opportunity to collaborate with our enemies to sink the ANC, MK would take it without hesitation because it is not grounded in any of our values, not even constitutionalism.
Advertising doesn’t get much more aggressive than this.
Even the small screen features a betting ad.
Our airports are also blanketed in these ads.
Tighter national regulations to curb this can’t come quickly enough.
Enough already.
The courts and judges can’t be captured only when they make rulings you don’t like.
Less than 6 months ago, the ANC fought hard in the Phalaphala impeachment case and lost in the Concourt. Today they won on something else.
Why? Because courts are not beholden to the ANC.
2026 Nobel Peace Prize laureate Navi Pillay’s commitment to universal legal principles and her firm moral compass are constants in a long career. Born into a family of Indian Tamil origin under apartheid in Durban, South Africa, Pillay became a lawyer and legal pioneer, confronting deep structural discrimination, segregation and exclusion. A common thread runs from her early work defending Nelson Mandela and others who stood up against apartheid to her service as a judge in some of the key international court cases of our time.
This year’s laureate has significantly enlarged the scope and impact of international law. She has served as a judge on the High Court in South Africa, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and the International Criminal Court. She was the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and, until recently, she chaired the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory. Today Navi Pillay is a judge on the International Court of Justice in the case where Myanmar stands accused of genocide.
In historic international court cases, she has shown that legal measures can help prevent acts of war and violence. Navi Pillay has also contributed to strengthen the institutions of international law. Her independence, expertise and steadfastness have made her one of the most respected international jurists of our time.

Seeing the diaspora attribute the current SA to colonialists is telling on how deeply the colonial bondage runs. The SA they praise was built by the black government. The apartheid govt didn't even provide water, build roads or provide education for the majority of the SA'ns.
Perception is such an interesting thing. Bombela is still running Gautrain as before Government just now owns it 100%. You’re more aware of any delays because your mind has a target to blame now
A major new chapter for arts and culture at Wits and in Johannesburg. 💙🏛️🎭
Wits University has announced the development of a R341 million Cultural Precinct that will transform the University’s south-eastern edge in Braamfontein into an accessible hub for arts, culture, performance, heritage and creative innovation.
The five-year development will connect Wits more closely to the city, opening up more of the University’s creative life to Joburgers while contributing to the regeneration of Johannesburg.
