Teaching ESL means for the first time ever I get to keep my kids from one year to the next! These 7th graders have all the energy and enthusiasm I could ask for, and I've got some ideas to challenge them next year! HAGS, Chargers!

As standardized testing season begins, remember: When a 2nd-grade math question is set at a 3rd or 4th grade reading level, the goal is to create a normative distribution among test-takers, instead of actually measuring students' knowledge of 2nd grade math curriculum.

We ended our class before break with a festive craft. I had a whole flock of turkeys in B113. I thought turkeys were a North American bird, but my ESL students knew exactly what they were and sound like??? Gobble gobble everyone!

Putting Halloween candy to work... ESL Ss used 5 senses vocab to describe how their favorite candies look, smell, feel, sound, and, of course, TASTE! Our goal was to use as many English words as possible!
