Ghanaians struggle with measurements. They can’t estimate the size of a 30 cm pizza or the length of 500 meters. So it’s no surprise they also struggle to grasp the value of $10,000.
You can always tell who got the PhD because they are genuinely curious about the world and specific problems and those who got it for the ego boost.

The Global Info Analytics account is now the face of statistics in Ghana. They keep posting these polls and percentages but with no data transparency. Yet everyone seems to be eating it up.

You people want marriage and kids, so the people you partner with only become a means to that end.
That’s why you confidently say, "I can do this for my wife/husband but not my girlfriend/boyfriend," without even pausing to realize how stupid that sounds.
When some of us point out that certain age gaps in relationships are weird even if the younger person is legally an adult, some people call it infantilization. But it shouldn’t be okay for a 38 year old woman to date and be pregnant for a 23 year old man. It’s predatory behavior.
Not every young person who left Ghana represents a loss to the country. Those who had no clear direction or meaningful impact were never essential to its progress. They do not have to come back to help build anything.
I think they both describe very well the human condition. We have such limited knowledge, and based on this incomplete knowledge, we must make decisions about career, family, relationships, etc and hope that it all works out.
Phew. It’s like we’ve been set up to fail.
