Yesterday, the Management Committee of the Black Meteors (Ghana’s U-23 National Team) held its maiden strategic planning meeting at the GFA Headquarters to begin preparations for the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers. The Olympic Games will be hosted in Los Angeles, USA, from July 14 to 30, 2028.

As Vice Chairman of the Committee, I joined other dedicated members and GFA officials to deliberate on key areas such as technical preparation, sponsorship, logistics, and promotional strategies, all aimed at ensuring Ghana’s successful return to the Olympic stage after 24 years.

As part of my commitment to improving the wellbeing of my people, I am organizing a Free Eye Screening and Treatment Exercise for all my constituents.

This initiative will provide free eye screening, medication, glasses, and surgery for those who need them free of change.

We have six screening centers across all communities within the constituency. I entreat everyone to take advantage, show up and get checked.

Yesterday, I had the honor of fulfilling my promise to support our young students across the Constituency.

In all, 135 students benefited from my Educational Support Initiative, each receiving a mattress, chop box, sandals, maths sets and an envelope containing cash support to aid their transition into Senior High School.

It is heartwarming to note that, even though this is the first time ever children from our district have received such comprehensive educational support, yet, it shall not be the last.

Education remains the surest path to empowerment and development, and I shall continue to support these young ones to reach the peak of it.

The Value of State Visits – Ghana, Japan (TICAD) & Singapore

State visits are far more than ceremonial occasions. They are powerful tools of diplomacy that open doors to investment and innovation.
They deliver real benefits and opportunity for our people. Ghana’s recent high-level engagements with Japan through TICAD, and with Singapore, mark a new era of strategic and transformative partnerships.

In Singapore, His Excellency John Mahama made history as the first Ghanaian President to be formally received on a State Visit. Beyond the symbolism, his visit unlocked over US$1 billion in investment deals from OLAM’s agro-processing and job-creating projects, to Shangri-La’s US$300m iconic hotel and convention centre, to vital upgrades in aviation, ports and transport systems.

Each of these projects aligns with Ghana’s Reset Agenda – to drive job creation, boost trade and modernize critical infrastructure.

Equally significant, the visit also opened new avenues for education and skills development, including TVET collaboration with the Singapore Institute of Technology, capacity-building for Ghana’s Chief Directors, and new opportunities for technology transfer. With plans for a Ghana Consulate in Singapore and Enterprise Singapore already in Accra, our two nations are positioning themselves as gateways between Africa and Asia.

Through TICAD, Ghana also continues to expand its strategic partnership with Japan, particularly in technology, industrialization, health and human resource development. These initiatives reflect Japan’s enduring commitment to Africa’s development, while reinforcing Ghana’s role as a bridge between Asia and Africa. Together, they broaden opportunities for trade, investment and knowledge-sharing across continents.

As President Tharman of Singapore aptly observed: “President Mahama is a man on a mission.” That mission is clear – to secure a prosperous future for Ghana through smart diplomacy that translates into tangible transformation for our people.

For me personally, a key highlight of the State visit to Singapore was the power of soft diplomacy, from the planning of the visit to the Singapore Botanical Garden to the ceremonial naming of the elegantly unique golden Vanda orchids after President John Dramani Mahama in commemoration of the historic visit by the Ghanaian leader! Wait until you hear about the rules govering the export of orchids or the permits required to carry President Mahama’s precious Vanda stems to Ghana. Each step of the way, you see efficiency, intergrity and love for country.

Government has issued a strong directive to political appointees, civil and public servants on participation in the upcoming United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meetings scheduled to take place in New York next month.

Any official who flouts this directive, according to the Chief of Staff, risks severe sanctions in accordance with the Code of Conduct for Public Office Holders and the Civil and Public Service Codes of Conduct.

According to a statement signed by the Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu (MP) all invitations must be cleared in writing to the Chief of Staff for approval or otherwise.

“No Minister, Deputy Minister, Civil or Public Servant, CEO/MD of a State-Owned Enterprise, Political Appointee, or any staff of Government may accept any invitation to, or attend, UNGA 80 or any related side meetings, panels, receptions, bilateral engagements, or third-party events without the express, prior written approval of the Chief of Staff.”

The notice follows a directive issued in cabinet by President John Dramani Mahama on participation in international events and related travel.

It explained that only the official Government delegation, as cleared in writing by the Chief of Staff, will be authorised to travel and participate in the UN General Assembly meetings.

“Subsequently all pending or previously accepted invitations have been suspended unless and until expressly re-authorised by the Chief of Staff” – the statement added.

The new measures according to the Spokesperson to the President, Mr Kwakye Ofosu is intended to ensure a lean, coherent, and cost-effective national representation that aligns with the president’s ‘Reseting Ghana’ priorities.

As a sports enthusiast, I spoke on the floor of parliament yesterday to congratulate our Black Queens @GhanaWNT for their outstanding performances so far at the Women’s African Cup of Nations and also urged them to press forward until they bring the trophy home.

I personally took time off to watch all their games and I must say, I am very impressed with their performance.

The government is behind them, the whole country is behind them devoid of politics. And I wish them luck in their match with Morocco.

Yesterday, I was officially sworn in as a member of the Governing Board of the Volta River Authority (VRA), following my appointment by H.E. President John Dramani Mahama. I am truly honoured by this call to serve.

At the inauguration, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, reaffirmed government’s commitment to the board, stating: “His Excellency the President has absolute confidence in your capabilities. You must lead VRA to champion reforms in Ghana’s power sector.”

The Board Chairman, Ing. Jabesh Amissah-Arthur, also pledged that the new board would work tirelessly to reposition VRA as the leading power generator in the sub-region.

I am excited to announce that, as of yesterday, I have officially cut the sod for the Lipke Bakua Hospital water project to commence. It is expected to be completed in two weeks. I am particularly interested in this project because, for far too long, access to clean and reliable water has been a major challenge for the hospital and its surroundings. Patients, staff, and residents have had to endure the stress and hardship of not having access to water. This marks a significant step toward bringing lasting relief to the hospital and its surroundings, and once completed, will improve the hygiene and quality of healthcare delivery at the facility.

This guy right here been teaching me a lot since yesterday. I've watched episodes upon episodes of his life and story. How at a time he broke his leg and went out of playing for some years, then returned to the Ghana Premier League, then finally a call up to the Ghana national team, the Black Stars. Upon joining the team, he has played two matches, conceded no goals, obviously benching the two international keepers before him. While many footballers and keepers decline in their career after age 30, his own season is now commencing.

I'm sure he had many reasons to stop trying, but here he is today. Do not stop fighting for what you believe in. Don't stop chasing your dreams. Chaque chose en son temps.
