Theres a misconception that ai will enable everyone to achieve big things since it makes it easy to do stuff. However.. we already have evidence that only a small percentage will have great benefits from it.

The evidence is the internet itself.. which even before ai, already contained the entirety of human knowledge.. accessible to anyone with a smartphone and internet. And yet the global population is still so dumb. Having loads of knowledge or AI doesnt do much for pple who can't

But if we did that here, those traffic officers would lose their jobs. But we are too slow and poor to adopt such systems hence those jobs stay. This will be the only thing that saves us from the coming mass loss of jobs due to A.I. and AGI

Ironically.. what saves Africa from job losses by automation is our slow adoption of the automation. The downside is we also lose out on the benefits of automation like higher quality products and services.

So eg we could replace 90% of traffic officers with automated ticketing systems that simply detect over speeding, identity numberplate, then automatically send fine or warning to your phone. This has been implemented in developed countries.

Also, millions of jobs have been created coz you now don't have to be in the same country as the company employing u or the client whose work yo doing. Being able to work from anywhere, for any company or client in any corner of the world is one of the best tech innovations

The ability to work remotely isn't appreciated enough. Imagine if the Covid lockdowns happened at a time where remote work tools like zoom, Microsoft teams etc didn't exist. Many industries wud have totally died out.

Big companies like Google, Facebook, Apple etc were able to continue operating smoothly simply coz all office work can be done from home or another remote place far away from the office.

The remaining bit that needs to be solved is the logistical missing link that would greatly boost e-commerce.. coz e-commerce would be bigger than all other tech activities we currently participate in. People shop a lot

Have come to appreciate how fast Ugandans adopt tech. Saw a random small nursery school in neighborhood.. checked Google maps and it was there. Ugandans transact billions of Ugx in crypto every day. So many tech start-ups around.

The open source community is evidence that highly skilled people can come together and do great things without any financial motive.. simply driven by passion for building awesome things

The effort put in by programmers working for free on huge complex open source projects that the rest of the digital world is built upon is not appropriated enough. From programming languages used to build the world's biggest tech companies.. to entire operating systems

A.i is gonna eliminate millions of jobs in developed countries but very few in developing/ poor countries coz when a country develops, it usually shifts away from physical jobs (blue collar) to info based jobs (white collar). Tht's why there are many skyscrapers in rich countries

than factories, coz the skyscrapers house offices, and office work is all info based, hence a.i vulnerable. The factory work was exported to countries like China and they became very rich from it. Bt now since a.i is eating away office jobs, which usually pay higher than physical
