Today marks 60 years since The Monkees first premiered on NBC.

The first episode to air was “Royal Flush,” although, in true Monkees fashion, it wasn't the first one we actually filmed. Typical for us to be already out of order before people had even seen us.

What followed was more than any of us could have imagined: the records, the tours, the fans, the Emmy, the reruns, the revivals, and all these years of people just like you telling me what the show and the music have meant to them.

Tonight, I get to celebrate that anniversary in the city where it all began.

Los Angeles, come celebrate with me tonight at The United Theater on Broadway for Micky Dolenz Celebrates 60 Years of The Monkees.

25 years have passed since September 11, 2001. A generation has grown up in the years since, but our responsibility to remember has not changed.

We remember the people who went to work that morning and never came home, and we remember the families who have carried their memories every day since.

We will continue to tell their stories, honor their lives, and express our enduring gratitude for the heroism shown that day.
