Turns out when you don't put a cap on the profit that a corporation can make and their shareholders require a constant profit that increases from the previous year, you get prices on all goods and services that go up and never down, always.
The answer, however, is not the government taking over the corporations and incorporating socialism on all levels. The answer is to compete and offer similar products for a cheaper price in order to drive the price of other goods down.
