No two ways about it - cutting welfare will send more people into poverty, and many more deeper into poverty
We have one of the least generous welfare systems in the world (that's why we have millions of people queuing at food banks)
We should be increasing welfare not cutting

It's a good question and one that would take far too long to answer properly, but the short version is that approximately 45 years ago we decided to build our economy entirely on speculation, accumulation, and scams.
It's hard to summarise my feelings on this. Lies and deceit are integral to the Labour right's political project - to protect jobs for them and their friends, but I do genuinely feel bad for the people who voted for them in good faith who believed things might improve.
The story here is Labour’s Bribes Acceptance Officer launching a campaign to deliberately smash Britain into Boris Johnson and diamond-hard Brexit, entirely so he and others could get their important jobs, status and free football tickets back, via lying, bullying and bullshit.
Einstein argued that science education without a complementary humanities course of study would lead to students “who would more closely resemble a well-trained dog than a harmoniously developed person.”
Very very cool society where something as beloved and culturally beneficial as the Prince Charles Cinema is in danger because a landlord, an entity that exists to be paid money for existing, has decided that a Nando's and a Tesco Express would line their pockets faster
