VITAL INFORMATION REGARDING BAND A AND 20 HOURS OF POWER SUPPLY PER DAY

What happens when a customer does not get the promised service of 20 hours per day as a Band A customer?

NERC has put together a multi-level customer protection and redress mechanism in the tariff order.

If a feeder does not get the 20 hour service for TWO CONSECUTIVE DAYS, the DisCo is mandated to issue a public notice and remediation plan by 10am of the next day.

If a feeder does not get the 20 hour service for SEVEN CONSECUTIVE DAYS, the feeder will be automatically downgraded thereby reducing the tariffs payable by the customers.

If over the course of 1 month, the average daily supply to a feeder is below 20 hours, the feeder will be migrated downwards and the DisCo is required to issue free energy units to compensate the affected customers for the month in review.

Where a DisCo's non compliance persists, NERC is empowered to undertake take more punitive.
