▫️began as a multifamily farm in 1904 (still family owned)
▫️patented first strawberry in 1958
▫️in 1989, committed to "a resolution that seemed preposterous at the time: to make all four berries available, in every season, in every part of the world"
▫️this resolution included designing the ubiquitous clamshell plastic container to maximize shelf life and make ease of transport
▫️doesn't farm itself...provides seeds and proprietary instructions for special growing materials/process to farmers (farmers keep 70-80% of revenue)
▫️fastest growing product is blueberries...farmers like it because much lower growing risk due to shelf life (60 days vs. 10 days for raspberries)
