Look, I love the Bard as much as anyone, but let’s be real: #Theatre in all its forms is a social collective—a summation of parts—that is/was designed to address social issues via storytelling. I 100% support this series, but let’s not pretend such an aim was invented by Shax
@ClearShakes Right!? That’s the joy of being a medieval drama scholar. So many plays are anonymous so I can just ascribe an author’s name.
Everyman? That was written my Johan Boringnature. My evidence? You can’t prove that it wasn’t written by him. Boom!
@Sthrndirecturg Yes. Which is why teaching a variety of techniques to actors is so important. All roughly aim for an affectual response much like you describe, but differ in the “paths” an actor might take to get there. So, an actor learns many to better find their most effective approach
