I am genuinely shocked to announce that my play - EDGE OF TOWN - has won The Paula Vogel Prize from the Kennedy Center, and was named a second place recipient for The Harold and Mimi Steinberg National Student Playwriting Award and The Jean Kennedy Smith Playwriting Award
For those being driven out of their homes
👇
The Refugees by Bobby Sands
A hurried worried people, a human stampede to God knows where,
Were spat out from the back streets, for God knows who to care.
‘For God and Ulster’ was the reason that refugees were driven out
Groups of masked men burning families out of their homes is nothing less than disgusting cowardice.
This has nothing to do with community.
This is outright thuggery.
The attack in North Belfast was heinous and wrong.
But there are dangerous attempts to exploit that to target and attack innocent people who are simply trying to live, work and raise their families here.
Racism, intimidation and violence are wrong wherever they occur.
There can be no excuse and no justification for these attacks tonight.
No one wants to see this on our streets and I again appeal for calm.
