Christians mourn the evil at École Polytechnique and stand against all violence. But fear-based messaging helps no one. The Bible commands truth in all things (Eph 4:15). Statistics show lawful gun owners are not driving violent crime in Canada. Policy should confront actual causes of violence, not demonize citizens who follow the law.

Freedoms in Canada continue to shrink, and they rarely come back. Christians understand the call to sober preparation. Jesus said, “Let the one who has no sword sell his cloak and buy one” (Luke 22:36). Know the law, train well, and exercise your legal rights with integrity and wisdom.

Charlie Kirk was a martyr for Christ and Jesus told us what God thinks of martyrs.

Jesus said, “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake… Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven” (Matthew 5:10–12).

In Revelation, martyrs are honored: “They have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death” (Revelation 12:11).

Jesus told His disciples to flee persecution when possible (Matthew 10:23), meaning we don’t run toward death recklessly. Yet, if faithfulness to Christ demands it, we do not shrink back: “Do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul” (Matthew 10:28).

Charlie Kirk is an example to all of us Christians on the strength of our convictions we should show the world. As Christians, we will be persecuted and hated. But remember, they hated Christ first.

My family mourns Charlie Kirk and yet we know he’s at the right hand of God, basking in His glory. We continue to pray for his family.

Like all of you, I am utterly stunned and heartbroken and sick to my soul today. It is unimaginable to write these words. I met Charlie Kirk when he was 18 years old, a young man so eager and determined that I immediately turned to a friend and said, “That kid is going to be the head of the RNC one day.” Charlie became even bigger and more important than that. It was a privilege to watch this principled man stand up for his beliefs and create the single most important conservative political organization in America. But more importantly, Charlie was a good man, a man who believed in right and wrong, who stood by his Biblical values. All of us will miss him, and I can’t imagine the pain of his beautiful young family, and we must all pray for them. And we must pick up the baton where Charlie left it, fighting for the things he believed in so passionately. And we must fight for a better America - an America where good people can speak truth and debate passionately without fear of a bullet. I weep for Charlie’s family, and I weep for my country today. Most of all, I weep for Charlie.

Heavenly Father, we pray for Charlie Kirk and we humbly ask you save him and protect his family. We are all sinners undeserving of your love and grace yet you continue to bless us with men like Charlie who spread the gospel and do Your work. Lord, we have nothing to offer you except our faith in Christ and our gratitude for bearing the weight and cost of our sins. Lord, we beg you, please, save this man. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
