Marshall coach Corny Jackson when asked about the Herd crowd -- one of the biggest of the day:

“How long do you have for me to answer this question? Do you guys have popcorn back there?

“Marshall is special. I played there. Every time I recruit guys, I probably told Dezayne and Obinna this – our fans. In today’s climate, that gets lost. Everybody wants to chase the dollar. But guys like Obinna and Nate stayed loyal. Our fans are super, super loyal. I’ll put our fans up against anybody. I do not care how big your school is. Anybody.

"These guys are passionate, they care and they take care of these guys. Once you come to Marshall, you are a son of Marshall for life. A lot of that gets lost because guys jump schools. They’re going to Marshall, here, here and here. Where are you going back to for homecoming? I graduated 24 years ago, and before I was the coach, when I came back home, I was treated by a celebrity -- and I was just okay. I was treated like a freaking celebrity. Marshall fans are awesome.”

Marshall Athletics had four programs secure a perfect APR and six programs finish 1st in the Sun Belt, according to numbers released by the NCAA for the 2022-23 APR cycle this week.
