A smart person once told me: if you buy a horse at public auction, you believe that horse is worth more than anyone else on the planet.
That’s conviction. Be proud of your work, excited for your purchase and be unbothered by know-nothings on the internet. Good luck.
Completely agree. The one thing casual racing fans know about is the Triple Crown even though they might not name all three races. NYRA and Churchill trying to destroy that is beyond belief.
What an incompetent NYRA board and CEO, overseeing the end of Aqueduct, destroying all that was great about Belmont and now contemplating destroying New York’s greatest race. Completely clueless.
Now we know why Kentucky Democrats like Beshear and Zach Dembo have been so timid about defending ratepayers and farmland in Kentucky from data centers.
Today, the Herald-Leader published an op-ed from Stephen Gray of Gray Construction. Stephen is the brother of Jim Gray, also of Gray Construction.
Jim Gray is Beshear’s former Secretary of Transportation and a huge donor to both Beshear and Zach Dembo.
Gray Construction has a dedicated data center division and a very vested interest in Kentucky continuing to hand out tax incentives and in Kentucky politicians continuing to talk out of both sides of their mouths on the issue.
No wonder Beshear’s executive order on data centers was so worthless and Dembo refused to attend a forum on the issue.
Look, Kentucky Democrats, if you’re for data centers without proper protections for ratepayers and communities, then be for them.
Stop gaslighting us while serving your donors.
𝟭𝟵𝟲𝟲 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦: Ogden Phipps's 𝗕𝗨𝗖𝗞𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗘𝗥 missed the Triple Crown with a quarter crack, but left no doubt who ruled his generation after winning the 1¼-mile #Travers in 2:01⅗, equaling Saratoga’s track record and becoming racing’s first 3-year-old millionaire.
The Lexington-Fayette Urban County government voted 10-5 today to replace a large water pump station at its current Mint Lane location by Dunbar High School rather than build a new one on donated property from the Bell family’s Mill Ridge Farm, which many in the horse community feared would lead to expansion of the Urban Service Boundary and result in development of horse farms in the area. Numerous people spoke against the Mill Ridge proposal, which was also more expensive than the replacement project at Mint Lane.
This was a big win for horse farm owners in the region who fear zoning changes will jeopardize their future, but also for non-horse people who spoke at the meeting and said the horse farms are a big part of what makes Lexington special.
White Abarrio has won some of the most prestigious races in North America, Florida Derby, Whitney, BC Classic, Pegasus, and now beat the 2 young superstars in the Oaklawn Handicap on the square.
Amazing he still has no stallion deal. This is who we should be breeding to as an industry. Sound and durable performing at the highest level over 5 plus years of racing.
An Al Jazeera opinion piece on the American and Israel attacks on Iran — and how hugely successful and organized they have been — is somehow better analyzed than any American media piece I’ve read on Iran. Seriously, read it: https://t.co/WSEV7bosMa
People did so well yesterday with the 'Who am I in this John Wyatt photo' yesterday, that I thought I'd try again today, ha.
Any guesses? This gent's negatives actually have a name written with them, but it doesn't seem to match the few photos I find of the named-person online.
If anyone knows this gent's name - the shirt says "Johnny" but it may not be his shirt - I'd be interested. Trying to ID some John C. Wyatt negatives.
This was shot at @claibornefarm , maybe ~1971, and there are a few shots of this gent. Might have been for a feature story. ?
"Keeneland billboard, Lexington, 10-22-69" - photo by John C. Wyatt
I have no idea where this was shot. Hints are few, although the white building on the left was for "Thoroughbred Supplies" and the name starts with "BARK (?) & CO. .
?
Dettori kept on rolling today at @TheNYRA. A classy win off the bench - @Dermo99 at Fernhill Stables did a fantastic job getting him back on track. Well placed by @BTRracingstable - He should improve nicely after this performance, and hopefully we can turn @FrankieDettori into a stakes horse. 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

Hall of Famer Scotty Schulhofer at Saratoga, 1994
This was a familiar, wonderful sight to so many of us over the years.
There is a small metal plaque nowadays along this rail that reads 'Schulhofer Place/In Memory of Flint 'Scotty' Schulhofer'.
As many of you remember, Julie Krone and Scotty Schulhofer were a powerful combo at Saratoga Race Course 'back in the day'!
Scotty is no longer here, and Julie is long retired from her jockey career. But Centennial Farms' silks still appear regularly here (i.e. Antiquarian).
you have horses like Journalism who’s about to make his 9th career start this week, and then there’s horses like Flightline who made 6 starts his entire career, and never ran more than 3x’s in a single calendar year
Flightline was fast, but that’s it. Not an All-Time Great
The telecast from Saratoga Race Course attracted 3.8 million viewers, with 5.0 million tuned in for race portion, making it the most-watched sports program on June 7, but the least-watched Triple Crown race of 2025: https://t.co/625ayRkuRz
