@jessiewlei@beh353 Hi Jessie! I think it’s extremely important to recognize the that patients have different nutritional needs. This is a great point you make that I think all of us should keep in our minds when treating our future patients.@beh353#BEH353
For my last tweet of the semester, I wanted to share a positive message that I feel all of us can live by. That being said, I wish everyone nothing but success and the best of luck on the semesters to come! @beh353@EmmaDArpinoRD#BEH353
I have messed up and I will continue to mess up. And instead of hating myself for those moments, my self awareness allows me to pause and reflect on them. To challenge them. To listen to them. To apologize. To grow.
I will use my knowledge on nutrition to educate my future patients on the significant impact diet has on their health. I want my patients to be able to talk about their dietary habits freely, so I can do everything in my power to help them feel their best selves. @beh353#BEH353
This article talks about the various types of anti-inflammatory foods that we can incorporate into our everyday diets. Since these foods have anti-inflammatory properties, they lower our chances of developing cardiovascular disease, diabetes and certain cancers🫀. @beh353#BEH353
It might surprise you to learn that eating patterns that can help to reduce #inflammation or keep it low contain all the classic foods we think of when we imagine a #healthy diet- https://t.co/ZDARgsz4b8
@suzaine_thomas @beh353 Hi Suzaine! I’m a big fan of cranberries, especially cranberry juice. Just a tip: Buy 100% cranberry juice and avoid the bottles that say juice cocktail. I learned that the juice cocktails contain added sugars and high fructose corn syrup unlike the 100%. @beh353#BEH353
@EmmaDArpinoRD Thank you so much for sharing with us in lecture this week! It was interesting to learn to that frozen produce provides more nutritional benefits than fresh produce does. I mostly turn to frozen produce because they are cheaper and last longer. @beh353#BEH353
Here are some tips provided by the USDA about safe food preparation. With thanksgiving approaching, I felt like this was a great source to share so everyone can safely enjoy their meals and prevent food-borne illnesses🦃@beh353#BEH353
Thanksgiving is just days away and for those worried about preparing this special meal, don’t worry, USDA is here to help. Here are some quick tips to stay #foodsafe: https://t.co/fnqgPKtQbb
@sanny_yu1@beh353 Hi Sanny! This is a great article to recommend to parents of young children. It’s very informative and straight to the point. It’s even better that it is written by a credible source. @beh353#BEH353
Eating healthy while pregnant is important. This is solely because whatever foods they put into their bodies not only affects them but their baby as well. This article is easy to read and very informative for a pregnant patient. @beh353#BEH353 https://t.co/SRcBj0y9bt
I found a recipe for gluten and dairy free cookies! Foods that are gluten-free provide health benefits such as reducing chronic inflammation and aiding the body in its digestion process. Thought this was cool to share🍪 @beh353#BEH353
@sanny_yu1@beh353 Hi Sanny! As future healthcare providers we are not there to judge our patients, but to provide them with support and the best quality of care possible. As a future nurse, I will break this negative stigma the medical field has about obese patients. @beh353#BEH353
It is unacceptable how often healthcare providers fail their obese patients. I was disturbed when hearing about how one woman’s cancer diagnosis was missed all because of her weight. A patient should never have to feel ignored or be discriminated against! @beh353#BEH353
@raiyanb01@beh353 This is interesting! Thank you for sharing. Growing up I was always told that diet soft drinks are just as unhealthy as regular soft drinks🥤. @beh353#BEH353
It’s National Diabetes Month! Here is an article that covers what specific carbohydrates diabetics should focus on incorporating into their diet. I feel like non-diabetic individuals can also benefit from this source as well! @beh353#BHE353
While individuals with #diabetes must be mindful of how many carbohydrates they eat, they don't need to avoid them all together.
During #NationalDiabetesMonth, learn why carbohydrates are part of a balanced eating plan: https://t.co/XaWemVhaFV

It was interesting to learn that defects in the gene of a hormone called Leptin is directly linked to obesity. Most people think obesity has nothing to do with genetics and everything to do with external factors which leads them to fat shame and victim blame. @beh353#BEH353

@VDean00@beh353 Hi Victoria! I can also relate to this struggle. I try to buy the foods I specifically need for recipes I would like to try. This makes grocery shopping less overwhelming. However, this is not always the case and I sometimes turn to faster food options as well. @beh353#BEH353
The barrier that I relate to the most is lack of self regulation. Often times I choose to eat foods that I know are not the best for my health. Since I find them so appetizing, it is difficult to stay away. @beh353#BEH353
