Sony is reportedly getting back most of an estimated $508 million in U.S. tariff refunds after the tariffs that contributed to PS5 price increases were later ruled unlawful.
According to Sony CFO Lin Tao, most of the refund is going to the PlayStation business, with around 70% already received between April and June 2026.
Even so, Sony has not announced any plans to refund customers who paid the higher PS5 prices. The company is also facing a proposed class-action lawsuit in the U.S. claiming that some of the recovered money should be passed on to consumers.
“For the players”
Rockstar has confirmed that GTA 6’s retail “physical” edition is just a download code in the box, and those codes don’t work the same way on every platform its region-locked on PS5
>For PlayStation 5:
-Download codes are region-locked.
-Rockstar recommends buying the game from a retailer in the same country/region as your PSN account to avoid activation issues.
-Importing a cheaper copy from another region may leave you with a code you can’t redeem.
>For Xbox Series X|S:
-Rockstar says Xbox download codes are not region-locked, making imported copies much easier to use.
In Japan, PS5 GTA 6 download codes expire 170 days after launch due to local regulations. That expiration does not apply globally.
You will own nothing
My brother who hasn’t turned on his PS3 or used PSN in over 10 years decided to boot up his ps3 to play something that is currently DOWNLOADED on the console.
Licenses are expired and his PSN account is deleted. So games are gone forever
WOOOOO!!!!!
@Pirat_Nation It’s a good thing, idk how many people not famous want their account back after a hack or hit because they forgot about it. There should be a way to do it without going insane.
You gave them the power; now they gracefully look down on you:
Physical discs end in 2028.
PS3 and PS Vita stores are shutting down.
If a game is digital-only, what happens 15 or 20 years from now when the storefront disappears?

The reported cost to build the PlayStation 6 is now approaching $1,000.
That doesn’t automatically mean the PS6 will launch at $1,000.
But it does raise some important questions:
• Will Sony sell the console at a loss again?
• Will we see another digital-only push?
The PS5 now costs more than it did years after launch.
That’s the opposite of what previous console generations trained players to expect.
Are higher console prices becoming the new normal?
They created the situation we’re in. No more ownership, just higher prices, renting everything, even our hobbies. And somehow, we’re expected to be happy with it. Shame on us for accepting it.
