I posted this last night, with mixed emotions…anger, frustration and overall mental fatigue. Afterwards, I began to look at pictures, then the sadness came…sadness and maybe a bit of guilt.

What I never said was that my 22-year old cousin drove into a moving train.

As a life coach and podcaster, I do case study coaching everyday. But as I looked through pictures, I realized I overlooked someone, who may have needed me more…more than I was willing to give.

As I looked at pictures, I realized that I never actually SAW him. I noticed he had beautiful eyes. I never noticed before, because whenever he was in my presence, I was too busy avoiding an emotional connection. Honestly, I just didn’t want him to ask me for anything.

Damn, how selfish of me, because love is free.

As I prepare myself to see his lifeless body, I grapple with the fact that I won’t get to see his eyes, or compliment them. I won’t get to tell him that despite his upbringing, he can dream big. It’s too late for me to apply any coaching principles. I missed the chance with him.

But I’ve learned a very valuable lesson…to start not only looking at those closest to me, but to make an effort to really SEE them. 🥹🙏🏾❤️

Yesterday, after church, my daughter went to visit some elderly members, who can’t get around as easily.

Mrs. Alston’s prayer request was that God makes a way for her to see 100. Say a prayer for her. Her birthday is in April. 🙏🏾❤️

Today would’ve been my uncle’s birthday. However, he was murdered last December. Since my mom had me at 15, I was always her brothers’ favorite nuisance.

Today, I went with my mom and grandma to eat to celebrate and remember him. My mom brought his ashes (we joke even in grief). 😅

The funny part is that last year, we all rode together to our family reunion. We stayed overnight. My uncle was an early riser, so he was up the next day, ready to hit the road right after breakfast. But me and my kids slept in and didn’t check out of the hotel until noon. He was furious!! 😡

During the road trip home, although he was already upset, we decided to stop at a restaurant we like. He was so angry he could’ve spit fire. He told us over and over he would never ride with us again.

Well, looks like I got the last laugh!! Not only did he ride with me again, but I made him sit in the back seat in the middle. Once again, Uncle Keith, I won!! 😂❤️ Love, your favorite Nuisance. 💔❤️

💕 8 years ago, my daughter met a friend on NBA 2K15. He has Cerebral Palsy, but that didn’t stop them from becoming best buds. He 🎓 high school on Friday, so she flew to surprise & meet him in person for the first time!! 🙌🏾💕
