When kids can’t infer, it’s not a problem with the kid. It’s that the book is assuming too much schema. The fact that they are not inferring is not the kids’ fault. It’s your fault. You chose material that was beyond where the kids were. @lester_laminack #tcrwp
A powerful way to provide choice is for teachers to allow students to generate their own personal learning goals within a unit of instruction. Quite obviously, when students are generating their own goals, there is a greater chance they will focus on subjects that interest them.
