@OnsKun The 2xko version would just be... Lux as she is. Neither a freedom fighter nor an illuminator, just a young girl torn between two worlds. The person still earning her wings, which is also the the SR version. U see it as shallow because you want Lux as she should be in the future.
Somehow also mischaracterizes Lux. The core of her character is a girl torn between being the girl her family, her kingdom sees her as or as the mage she truly is. The fighter and the beacon for the people are offshoots of that.
Overall, they wanted to make her look like a magical girl, so I think they accomplished that.
However, I feel like this design falls into a common mischaracterization of who Lux is.
Lux isn't just kawaii magical girl, she's a WARRIOR! A FIGHTER! So the dress is bad choice imo
@ThatoneQueen3 It's so good as a narrative device too since a (magical girl/academy uniform) dress + parts of armor plating from her kingdom showcases how her current identity is a mix of a mage and her duties as a member of a knight family.
@ttwisted35 I like the 2XKO design as a take on pre-mage rebellion Lux. Her core as a character is someone torn between her self as a mage and her duties to her kingdom. So the outfit of a dress and armor plating to showcase her being between a mage and a knight is perfection.
@OnsKun Then what are you even talking about? The 2XKO design still coveys itself as Luxanna Crownguard, the mage that still loves her kingdom. The versions you keep posting are tye idealized version of the beacon of light, it's just not what current Lux is.
Cloth outfit (armor type being attributed to mages in media) mixed with her kingdom's armor plating is just to convey Lux as being in between her self and her kingdom. Her base look leaned more towards her being a warrior for her kingdom while neglecting herself.
This design is fine as a way to showcase who Lux currently is. Pre-mage rebellion, she was just a noble girl in a military family. Her design in 2XKO is meant to convey that. A dress that looks like more of a uniform and some plating just to sell the knight family deal.
@PardoBestCat@ImevorHellwood Tldr, the Wildborn eventually split because of that. A portion went into the forest for a new life (becoming the modern Wilder) and the rest stayed behind (becoming the modern Mauler), Gala remaining with latter to watch over them. Nazrik just kinda went on his own and dipped lol
@PardoBestCat@ImevorHellwood Not quite, a few years after the fall of the god, the Wildborn is now headed by Gala but Kordan created a conservative faction that wanted to preserve their old ways and retain what little power he had left. After a failed coup, they just kinda imprison him.
@MagindaraVT I have a theory that the two are connected to the Manananggal. Because in folklore, the way to defeat her is to prevent her upper and lower from reuniting before sunrise. Which mirrors Jo and Raissa's adventure, where they're separated but need to reunite before time runs out.
@MagindaraVT Notice, that in some parts of the trailer, she has two sets of wings and in other parts, she only has one set. Also, the wings on Raissa are attached to her by claws on her shoulders, they're actually the Manananggal's wings!
@CristianSabarre Manananggal aren't just the upper half! They have a full body and can detach to take flight. In fact, one of the ways to kill a Manananggal is to pour salt on the lower half while the upper is separated, if it doesn't reunite after a certain time (like before sunrise), it dies.
