Hey kids, spend ur lunch money wisely rent a VPS in a nation of choice (or multiple) ssh into VPS install wireguard, live free. Cost 5/6 bucks time to setup ~5min.. If they go the china way we just use shadowsocks, you can't stop the internet you can just make it a little slower...

At the end of the day it's just politicians and civil servants I'd hardly call them "the elites" that need to be convinced but European industry also needs a wake up call, some direction is slowly forming and some positive things are happening like trying to produce an indigenous proper hyperscaler, we just need to all lobby hard for the Eurostack 💙

The Royal Navy has not seized any sanctioned Russian oil tankers because of concerns in Whitehall that the cost of berthing and maintaining the vessels could reach tens of millions of pounds

Sir Keir Starmer pledged last month to “go after” Russian tankers flying false flags. Under his plans the vessels can be boarded by special forces and officers from the National Crime Agency

However, no operations have taken place due to a dispute in government over where the vessels should be held and which department will pay for them. The Department for Transport has been accused of “dragging its feet”

Officials have highlighted the case of a Panamanian-registered ship called the MV Matthew, which was seized by the Irish authorities in September 2023. More than 2.2 tonnes of cocaine worth €157 million was on board. Maintenance, security and berthing of the vessel has so far cost more than £10 million

A Yorkshire gas field that could supply over 10% of Britain’s annual demand is being positioned for early Bitcoin mining rather than immediate supply to the national grid.

Reabold Resources plans a small on site gas fired power station using private gas to mine Bitcoin, generate early revenue and help fund further development of the field.

Connecting to the grid is slow, costly and tied up in years of approvals, infrastructure build out and negotiations. Using the gas on site allows immediate monetisation from existing wells and creates early cash flow without waiting for the wider system to catch up.

When the fastest and most viable route for a domestic energy resource is private on site use rather than supplying the grid, it becomes clear that Bitcoin isn’t the problem.

This neatly exposes how misaligned UK energy policy, infrastructure and incentives have become.

It’s amazing what businesses can do to stay profitable, even when the government tries to make it almost impossible.
