No journalist looked for evidence: of his marathons. Of his scholarly impact. This is what Professor Jason Stanley discovered when he went looking, that if you look at the available metrics: "Arday's impact is easily comparable to the leading scholars in his academic field."

Yet TODAY, the Times can publish a piece today, citing the fraudulent marathons that Arday ran "on a broken leg", a claim he never made. It was a hairline fracture *that was reported at the time*.
And the headline of the piece? You cannot make this stuff up.

I write in my piece that a simple google would have shown that plenty of local papers reported on the local led running all those marathons. But look what this random molecular biologist on Twitter @monkemma found:

What I hadn't realised until Arday's death was how deficient the underlying reporting fuelling the the commentary industrial complex was. Read this thread & tell me the marathons were just another "fabulist" data point.

I wrote this piece about my my own attempt to process how & why this story has affected me so much and what it says about the state not just of our media but our entire information ecosystem.
But it's also just the tip of the iceberg.

Here's Jason Arday's death - and the media's role in it - trending on social media, again.
And yet it's *nowhere* in the mainstream media today.
It's "fallen" out of the news cycle in the same way that Russian scientists "fall" out of windows.

An arrogant, obsessive entity armed to the teeth—yet terrified of paper.
A paper entity, frightened by paper.
Ontario Premier Doug Ford: “President Trump is the kind of guy who, on the first day, will steal the money from your pocket, on the second day — the hat off your head, and on the third day — your sneakers.”
“This is a very difficult situation, folks, and, you know, you simply can’t trust President Trump. That’s just a fact. He changes the terms of the deal. He constantly moves the goalposts. You absolutely cannot trust him,”
Ford concluded, commenting on the escalating trade war between Canada and the United States.
US president, Ronald Reagan, and Canadian Prime Minister, Brian Mulroney, in 1988. Later that year, Reagan said: “Our peaceful trading partners are not our enemies; they are our allies. We should beware of the demagogs who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends—weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag."
we live rent free in their minds. They want to be us so badly, but they can't perform a simple dabke; so they resort to mockery.
you'll never see a Palestinian wedding mimicking them. first of all, our heritage is too rich, too deep, and too beautiful to want to borrow from others; but more importantly, they have nothing for us to borrow in any event, because their entire "culture" is stolen from us in the first place, except for the mass murder and unspeakable sadism—that's original zionism.
🔴 According to the Lebanese Ministry of Health, 8,915 civilians have been killed and 30,543 wounded in Israeli attacks since October 2023.
Half of those killed have died in just the past six months.
Hundreds of those killed were children. Israel systematically targets families; there have been numerous family massacres committed by Israeli forces since 2023, including the most recent massacres only one week ago.
I'm tired of this BS. Charlie Kirk hated Muslims & mocked the deaths of Muslims, cracking jokes about innocent Palestinians having their homes destroyed & referring to "stupid Muslims." His murder was inexcusable & horrific, obviously, but he was undeniably a hate-filled bigot.
As a Retired US Army paratrooper, pictures like these hit hard. Trump never had the courage to pick up a rifle and man a post when he was called to serve.
Yet he has the nerve to promote AI pictures like this showing him wearing things like Parachutist badges, and rows of ribbons he never had to courage to obtain. Anyone who has ever served should be pissed at garbage like this.
His father paid a doctor’s note so he wouldn't have to serve. But remember that for every one of the draft deferments, someone else had to go in his place.
A pure disgrace.

The European Union are legally obliged to sanction Israel, otherwise they are complicit in their crimes.
Make no mistake, the genocide in Palestine would end if the EU - Israel’s largest trading partner - suspended trade agreements, imposed crippling sanctions and imposed an arms embargo on Israel.
And yet, the EU has refused to deploy any of its leverage to halt the mass slaughter of Palestinians, the ethnic cleansing, the barbaric military dictatorship and the illegal annexation of occupied Palestinian Territories.
Ursula Von Der Leyen’s empty condemnation and virtual signaling are faux gestures.
EU leaders and institutions continue to guarantee immunity for Israeli leaders and soldiers while they vacation in Europe, regardless the fact that Israel has kidnapped and tortured European citizens, and fired at European peacekeepers and soldiers in Lebanon.
Jewish surgeon Dr. Mark Perlmutter, who stars in the new documentary American Doctor, calls Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer “prostitutes for the Israeli lobby.”
He says srael’s influence over Washington is so extensive that “the United States Congress building is the most occupied territory by Israel.”
“It’s not the West Bank. It’s not Gaza. It’s the U.S. Congress.”
When you appoint reality TV people to the most important positions of the government running massive federal agencies, don’t be surprised when they treat the job like a reality TV show starring themselves while we pay them and the expenses.
as the zionist west demands Hamas disarm, we remember the last time we trusted America's word. In 1982, the PLO withdrew from Lebanon on the explicit promise of Ronald Regan, through his envoy Philip Habib, that Palestinian civilians would be protected.
Almost immediately, Israel sent their Phalange proxies into the refugee camps of Sabra and Shatila, hacking people to death with machettes, cutting their throats, slicing pregnant women open, lining people agains the wall and spraying them with bullets.
Palestinians will not disarm. We will fight this foreign zionist cancer until it's destroyed. History is long, and we're a patient people.
The "rules" being: when Germany ran one of the world's largest trade surpluses for decades it was called "competitiveness," but when China does it it's "unfair overcapacity."
I'm not even exaggerating, in substance it's basically his stance.
