My cousin rejected a fully funded BSc scholarship in Computer Engineering in India in 2020 because his girlfriend threatened to break up with him.

He was already in 300 level when he got the scholarship.

Everyone in the family advised him to take the opportunity and go.

But his girlfriend threatened to leave him if he ever travelled.

My cousin said, “I can’t risk my relationship.”

So he stayed.

After their NYSC, the same lady got admission to study for her master’s degree in the UK.

My cousin suggested they apply for a dependent visa so they could move together.

She told him, “I want to be alone over there and concentrate on my new life.”

They eventually broke up.

She is now married to another man and has two children.

My cousin is still in Nigeria, doing POS.
