Tom Holland shares how he got to tell Zendaya that Nolan wanted her as Athena in The Odyssey.
Tom Holland: Then at my meeting with Chris, he asked me a question. He said, “Do you mind if I ask you a question and please don’t be offended by my asking?” And I thought he was going to ask me like, “Can we put like lifts in your shoes or something make you taller?” I didn’t know what he was going to say. And he went, “Would you be offended if I asked you if I asked to play Athena?” I was like, “Why would I be offended?”
Tom Holland: And yeah, I just said, “Oh, mate, I would be honored. That’s amazing. I’m sure she would love to.” And then I asked him, I said, “Do you want me to tell her?” And he said, “Yeah.” And then I went home and she asked me about the meeting and I just said to her, I said, “You should read the script again.” And she was like, “Well, I read it.” I said, “No, no, no. Just trust me. Like, you should read it again.” And she was like, “What are you talking about?” I said, “Just read it again, but read Athena like really closely.” And the little corners of her mouth…
Interviewer: YESS, IT’S MY FAVORITE. It was amazing.
Andrew Garfield said he called a mentor in a panic, convinced he was about to collapse onstage during Angels in America.
Andrew Garfield: There were nights and days on Angels where I would wake up and want to cry, ‘cause I’m like, I can’t — I don’t know how — like literally, I’m on the verge of a physical nervous system failure, breakdown. And there was one particular person, a mentor of mine, a teacher of mine, that I would call, and I would say, “Hey, I’m really worried about myself. I’m worried that I actually can’t — I’m going to fall over on stage.”
And she would always say lean back, lean back. Give it to the spirits, give it to God, give it to your higher power, give it to the invisible forces that have put you in this position to serve. I survived, and did it, and those were probably the better shows because I was out of the way.
Dwayne Johnson opens up about losing friends to addiction in wrestling and MMA, and why that pushed him to finally make the movie he needed to make instead of the one that would sell the most tickets.
Dwayne Johnson: So we knew a lot of those guys, and there was an epidemic in MMA as well as in pro wrestling with addiction at that time, and I’d lost a lot of friends to addiction who OD’d, didn’t make it back, who decided to check out. So I was moved by Mark’s story cuz he had his addiction problems and he dealt with his demons. And the thing that really grabbed my attention about this story, which is why I wanted to make it with Benny Safdie, was I felt like none of us can relate to the greatest fighter on the planet, right? But what we can relate to is this idea of pressure, and how we all deal with pressure. And sometimes we do well with it and sometimes it kicks us in the ass. And in this case with Mark, here’s this guy who looks invincible, and in many ways he is, but at the same time broken on the inside. I’d let that be the guiding light creatively, and allowed me to tap into something — an artistry that I was looking to do for such a long time — and just looking for that opportunity to do where I can really not only challenge myself, but oh, there’s the cliff. Let’s jump off this cliff. Even if we don’t know what’s on the other side. It’s okay.
So that all led to the Smashing Machine and the cliff. But we’ve all been on that cliff, right?
Everyone: Yeah.
Dwayne Johnson asks Mark Hamill if he knew Star Wars would be special on set. Hamill admits nobody could tell him anything not Harrison Ford, not George Lucas and he had to guess the tone completely blind.
Dwayne Johnson: I’ve always wanted to know this because I told you back there I’ve always wanted to meet you. When you were making Star Wars and you were on that set, did you have a sense like this could be pretty? Or were you like, “What the f*ck?”
Mark Hamill: Well, what was interesting is I got the part without having read the whole script. They only gave you a scene.
Dwayne Johnson: Okay.
Mark Hamill: And I’m thinking, who talks like this? I mean, is this a sendup of Flash Gordon or whatever? And Harrison tested with me. I said, you were in American Graffiti. I mean, is this like a pair of— “Hey, whatever. Let’s just do it.” So, he was no help at all. And I went to George, said the same question. He goes, “Uh, well, let’s just do it. We’ll talk about it later.” Translation, let’s just do it. We’ll never ever talk about it.
So I was totally in the dark about the tone or the style. And the only choice I made that in retrospect was the right one. I said, “Okay, I’m not going to send this up. I’ll be as sincere as I can be.” But, uh, no, I thought when I read it, when I finally got the part, they’re sending over the script. I’ll never forget reading that script for the first time cuz even without John Williams music, even without all the special effects, it was so entertaining, funny, ironic.
Brad Pitt revealed he nearly screwed up the entire F1 movie production on day one at Silverstone.
The first time out at Silverstone when we’re, you know, that day one when we’re filming, there’s over 100,000 fans and we got everything coordinated prep. We’re going to get 15 minutes on the track. We cannot fuck this up because if we lose the car there, they’re going to have to come and tow it out and we’re going to screw up the whole like schedule and do com checks, belts on, everything. Sit in the car waiting, waiting, waiting. It’s time to go and we take off. My comms went out. Oh, with Luch I had no comms.
Damson Idris: Oh, I remember that.
Brad Pitt: And suddenly it’s the first time on the track with fans filming and we have no comms. But fortunately we had choreographed it so much that we just winged it.
Damson Idris: You are amazing.
Brad Pitt: You got to go right.
Jennifer Coolidge said she had no idea “these gays, they’re trying to murder me” would take off the way it did. Groups of men now dress as Tanya and shout the line in New Orleans and Boston.
Jeremy Allen White: I wanted to ask you about the line “These gays, they’re trying to murder me.” It’s been repeated. Do you ever get that on the streets?
Jennifer Coolidge: I know, I’m so thrilled. Mike was very confident about Tanya being pursued by these seemingly friendly gays that seem to be fans of hers, and he was like, “We don’t see the gay men as being evil, this is a bad group.” There was a whole group of gay men in New Orleans who all went out on Mardi Gras day as Tanya, some on scooters, and they all had that line on. It’s happened in other cities, even in Boston. It really did somehow strike a chord. If you’d told me that was going to happen, I never would have believed you.

Brad Pitt on what 180mph in an F1 car actually feels like.
Brad Pitt: That’s not what’s so awesome about these cars because speed becomes relative and that’s when you’re in the straight line that’s actually when you can catch your breath take a little look around. Yeah. It’s the high-speed corners. It’s just shocking to take and then you break and it’ll stop you.
Kerry Condon: What do you hear?
Damson Idris: Oh, that’s a good one. Really? It’s that engine. That’s what I would always hear.
Kerry Condon: Oh really?
Damson Idris: Engine is going.
Brad Pitt: You’re not even watching your gears because you start to get attuned to what gear you’re in.
Damson Idris: In the beginning, though, I definitely used to look at it.
Brad Pitt: Oh, yeah. In the beginning.
Damson Idris: Yeah. I was like, “Okay, two.” And by the time you look up, you’re already at the end of the road.

Stephen Curry talks about his bold rookie-year trash talk to Kobe Bryant during a tight game at Oracle Arena.
Speedy Morman: I heard a story about one time you tried to like trash talk to him. It was your rookie year like something about like he had to go hit some clutch free throws or some like that. What what happened there?
Stephen Curry: It was a game at home at Oracle and they were winning and I think they were up like six or something like that down the stretch and we started to do the foul game and he was going to the line. I just walked by him like, “Yo, you nervous?” And the look he gave me was one, that has been burned into my head like one, is a rookie talking to him, two, like my am I nervous? Like, what are you talking about?
Matt Rife gets asked about a 550 pounds fan scared to sit front row.
Caleb Pressley: What would you say to a fan who wants to come sit front row to Matt Rife show, but she’s scared that you’re going to pick on her for being… she’s 550 pounds?
Matt Rife: There’s almost 0% chance I’m not going to talk to you if you’re 550 pounds.
Caleb Pressley: What do you say to someone who says, "l like Matt Rite, but my wife loves Matt Rife?"
Matt Rife: I would say that's a win-win.
