korean economy has gotten to the point where the second cultural export behind kpop is media depicting characters trying to escape financial dystopia in increasingly high risk ways
As a reminder, Airbnb has spent $1.5M to reelect Karen Bass, and made a $1M donation at the behest of Karen Bass.
Earlier this year Bass snuck Airbnb deregulation into her budget that City Council removed.
Airbnb bought Karen Bass.
🚨 #BREAKING: It's been revealed the Flock CEO has publicly bragged about warrantless surveillance using his camera network — which is reportedly 3x larger than what the company has disclosed to the public.
To put this into perspective, Street lighting was cut by $7.5M during Bass’s first three years. Sanitation was cut by $11M. Look at the effect those cuts have had on the city.
This award is $11M, equal to the sanitation cuts. The LAPD continues defunding our city.
Within the next year we’re gonna hear a lot about Paramount selling off assets, studios, and rights to a lot of IPs cause they went into a massive amount of debt to buy another company with a massive amount of debt all to sacrifice a news network at the altar of a dying pedophile
Keep fighting to the bitter end. I have been surprised along the way. As long as you keep fighting there is always a chance. Getting the fracking ban in NYS, one of the most important and last significant environmental and political wins for the people in the last 30 years. We fought against the enviro NGOs the fossil fuel industry, the media NYTimes et al and still won. But it means fighting to the bitter bitter end.Beyond what anyone thinks is possible.
The proposed Paramount/Warner Brothers merger would mean an even greater concentration of media in this country. Thousands of jobs are on the line, and this would put yet another news network under the control of a Trump ally. This merger must be blocked.
A reminder of what followed Disney’s acquisition of Fox:
• Thousands of jobs were eliminated
• Fox 2000 was shuttered
• Blue Sky Studios was closed
• Competing development teams were consolidated
• Projects were cancelled or placed into turnaround
• Fewer films received theatrical releases
• Theaters lost a major supplier of annual product
• Filmmakers lost a major buyer for their work
• Disney controlled roughly one-third of the 2019 domestic box office
Before Disney, Fox, Fox 2000 and Searchlight collectively averaged more than 20 theatrical releases annually. In recent years, 20th Century and Searchlight have released fewer than half that number.
Disney bought a competitor. Hollywood lost one. And will never fully get it back. Remember that in three years.
That is the precedent everyone should remember before allowing Paramount to absorb Warner Bros.
Resist.
The amount of damage this is about to do to the industry is going to be devastating. So many jobs are going to be lost. All because one too many dopes bought "promises" that Ellison made to them. Those so-called promises will be upheld as much as the guy in the White House's have.
The State AGs were on pace to kill the Paramount/Warner Bros by litigation and delay until Gavin Newsom stepped in and turned the tide. Now the Trump loyalist Ellisons will control CNN and HBO. Don't ever, ever forget that Newsom stabbed us all in the back

You’d be forgiven if you forgot Xavier Becerra was running for governor. The only reason he’s even at this point in the race is because of identity politics, clearly he has no real policy beliefs outside making money for corporations.
Who says bipartisanship is dead?
Donald Trump and Gavin Newsom collaborated to crush workers in Hollywood on behalf of a big tech surveillance billionaire! With an assist from Tom Cruise and Ari Emanuel! https://t.co/LNpuXKBHeP
