Head of Policy @TroveResearch: we're all about corporate climate commitments and carbon markets / Honorary Research Fellow @UCLGeography (All thoughts my own)
Some commentators seem unfussed about mixing up the distinction between terms like 'elimination' and 'eradication', 'isolation' and 'quarantine', and 'mutation' and 'variant of concern'. Unfortunately, jumbled concepts can lead to jumbled discussion of their implications.
Please take a look at our first post for 2021, and I'd love to hear any thoughts on the role of these questions in understanding organisational purpose!
Our first piece on the Purpose Project in 2021 looks at the role of value, thinking in systems, and redefining time horizons for success for uncovering and embedding purpose.
Please take a look and let us know what you think!

NEW: fresh data from trials in Brazil, South Africa and the UK shows the Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine is highly effective with a 12 week gap between doses.
Efficacy is in fact much higher with a 12 week interval than a shorter gap

This was published in the Review of Income and Wealth in 1987 by a then-staff member of @UNStats. Probably not the first mention of 'Beyond GDP' but remarkable that the world is still focused on restoring GDP growth in the post-covid recovery https://t.co/RSw1z6jdsb
It's (nearly) five years since the Paris Agreement was gaveled through… but was it any good? Tricky question. Based on emissions, temperature data and impacts, no. *But...* (thread)

Upon winning reelection, São Paulo’s Mayor Bruno Covas echoed Joe Biden’s victory speech, saying “there are no blue districts & red districts, there is only the city of São Paulo.” Yet finding a "Brazilian Biden" to oust Bolsonaro in 2022 will not be easy. https://t.co/cuGTtUeYc1
No country - rich or poor - is immune from the health impacts of climate change.

This will always be an evolving discussion but in this post, we explore some of the reasons why we believe it's so important to start from purpose. I'd love to hear any thoughts or reactions! #purposefulbusiness#impact
What is purpose? And why does starting from purpose matter? Sometimes described as an organisation’s ‘Why’, but we’d argue it’s ‘Why & How’. Here’s our second piece on the Purpose Project on how starting from purpose offers more than the CSR mindset:

As an organisation, we want to always be learning, as well as working openly and collaboratively - here's the first piece (hopefully of many!) where we will look to share our experiences!
We launched last week, but we have building Impactical for the last 6 months, all while working remotely. In our 1st post to the Purpose Project, our advisor Jack Armstrong highlights 4 key things we learned about creating new teams across continents. https://t.co/TqZGqIFGQZ
It's a big day as @WeAreImpactical goes live! I'm excited to now share what we've been working on - taking a leap into the unknown to co-found a company based on the belief that good for the world is good for business. Please give our new account a follow and watch this space!
Today Impactical launches to the world, starting from the belief that good for the world is good for business. Our aim is to make purpose-driven transformation a simple roadmap of achievable goals for our partners. Please follow us to join us on the journey to put purpose first!
I'm kinda late to the party with @kristindakota's excellent article in @FastCompany from a fortnight ago, but it really is a brilliant look at the state of play of responsible/purposeful business, and where it should go next...
'The NHS has appointed @watts_nick, who's blazingly led The Lancet's Countdown on Health and Climate Change, as its first Chief Sustainability Officer. This news is certainly one reason for hope.'

You only have to see the diversity of people who are sending condolences about the passing of Eddie Van Halen to see the immense influence he had. An innovator and an icon.
Recent survey shows that only 17% of Board of Directors serving on Sustainability committees have sustainability expertise.Imagine if only 17% of the directors serving on the audit committee had financial literacy?Concerning indeed.Having Climate competent boards is a must by now
Now more than ever, leaders must question the outdated idea of putting profits ahead of people. The “strategy” to maximize quarterly shareholder outcomes fails to account for the long-term—and it's wildly inadequate for this moment. From @JenniferRiel: https://t.co/QvVlaoraYr
