@buzzin2020@jb17_jrm@mrjamesob There's a lot of vetting & systemic change needed. I don't know the application process but surely they vet already? There seems to be a level of immunity to prosecution and scrutiny. They must know they're being recorded yet it doesn't seem to make them reconsider their actions
@jb17_jrm@mrjamesob I really don't think the term "bad apple" should be used to describe people who use their power over others to murder them... Police officers get paid to protect vulnerable people in society. That gives them a higher bar to reach. If indeed it is a bar to reach to not kill people
@10DowningStreet "if you can". There seem to be a lot of people who can't. Apparently people think it means breathing in too much CO2. Does anyone on your social media account actually read these replies to assist in improving messaging and encouraging people to understand the benefits?
@SteveBakerHW @romillyweeks And in fact you've not justified it. You've said it doesn't seem like a good way to serve the public (slow hand clap to Sherlock, here) and still voted for it?
@SteveBakerHW @romillyweeks What on Earth does this even mean?! Why do relevant authorities need to experience queuing?! How have you managed to vote to make parliament even dysfunctional and then justified it with this waffle?
"Because we're white, we have had privilege. Even the poorest of us have had privilege. We need to recognize that, and we have to understand what it is that keeps racism in place: the policies, redlining, banking policies, mortgage policies." — @JaneFonda
@CRAZEEEEgoat@groomyd@mac_critical@MattHancock Needed. I'm not a parent myself but I have to say if Twitter is where you for parenting advice you're probably not looking in the right place...
@CRAZEEEEgoat@groomyd@mac_critical@MattHancock Just here to point out that not all pride parades feature someone dressed as a giant penis... This one is in Seattle and is a gimmick to promote an LGBTQ health centre https://t.co/yvOWSWkFQk There is loads online that will give you the history of pride parades and why they're
It just means we've benefited from our whiteness. Or at least that our whiteness hasn't been an additional barrier to us being in whatever position we are in society.
White privilege exists and it isn't racist to say so. It is ridiculous to say all lives matter or not all police in response to people saying #BlackLivesMatter and pointing out that there's systemic racism. White privilege doesn't mean all white people are nasty, racist people
So much footage of terrifying levels of police brutality going on in the USA this weekend. Of course these protests will spread. People couldn't watch them and not be angry... TV crews are there yet they're still behaving with utter impunity #blacklivesmatter
@krishgm Common sense and a nation's resolve... #borisjohnsonfailed#BorisJohnsonMustGo Any leader (regardless of political party) who has lied and made as many horrendous mistakes as the PM should be made to go.
Wow! Finally. Just what everyone wants... "Our" wonderful sport is returning and the chancellor announced Nandos is reopening soon too. Forget the people who've died and the lies about #cummings. The HEALTH secretary is celebrating the return of fucking horse racing...
“SO YOU DON’T LIKE RACISM, BUT YOU’RE IN THE UK AND FEEL POWERLESS TO DO ANYTHING?”
I have had several conversations with friends who have recently felt powerless as to what they can/should be doing in response to some of the atrocities in the US.
Here are some ideas. 1/?
