@ConnorMEwing Same here! All degrees from BA to Ph.D earned in English speaking universities, and I have been living in Canada for 9 years... they should change the regulations, absurd. (On another note, it was easy-peasy, you'll probably get bored waiting to move to the next section)
@DafnaRachok @AcademicChatter :( it happened to me in the past, Dafna! (Turned out they already had the ideal internal candidate - so it was just a formality... it's incredibly frustrating!
As predicted, the election cycle repeats. With the National party to form the new government, Chris Luxon has declared many times his desire to repeal the offshore oil & gas ban, opening NZ's waters to exploration again. One step forward, two steps back..
#NewZealandElection
W/ Jacinda Ardern stepping down, if the usual election cycle repeats, it is possible that the bill to ban offshore exploration may be reversed (yikes). I hope all the progress (or the start of it) to an energy transition in NZ won't be in vain #JacindaResigns#jacindaardern
@DafnaRachok @AcademicChatter From experience: not necessarily important when it comes to job applications, but it's a good practice to have one when you start a postdoc or faculty job (I wouldn't rely exclusively on the University page website for that, as at times their interface is outdated)
Premier Smith’s Monday press conference demonstrated once and for all that the 7-month moratorium on renewables has nothing to do with land use or solar panel reclamation and everything to do with a dangerously flawed view of the future of energy. #ableg

Wildfires have burned historic Hawaii town Lahaina to the ground, at least 36 people lost their lives and 11,000 have been evacuated. Don’t skip this post without leaving a heart for Hawaii.

1/ For the past year, I have been investigating renewable energy development across rural Alberta, gathering the stories of farmers and community members where the solar and wind farms boom is happening...

5/Putting a six-month moratorium will impact the confidence any future investors will have to develop projects in this province, slowing down a just transition process that is already struggling to begin

Thank you for the wonderful opportunity @IrvingInstitute ! It was energizing & inspiring to connect with other energy scholars & share ideas+projects toward a more just energy future. Looking forward to continuing collaboration with all these wonderful researchers
We were thrilled to have 19 early-career energy & climate researchers from across North America and across the disciplines join us in Hanover this week for our second New Energy Summer Summit! Thanks to everyone who shared their time & ideas with us during this energizing week!
I went to see Oppenheimer. I encourage everyone not to forget the other side of the story and the impacts to communities left & caused by the Manhattan project. To read more about it, Valerie Kuletz's "Tainted Desert" makes visible the human & ecological costs left #Oppenheimer
Listen as Don Hill talks with our Executive Director about the new #sustainablejobs legislation and its alignment with Iron & Earth's core mission and what we are doing now in areas like the Dehcho Region in the Northwest Territories.

@StefanoZucca5 Thanks for sharing. It's such a beautiful story! "Remember, we are a team" is my mantra with my partner (not academic). At times, I forget sacrifices he makes (as Italian, I hope to get back, it scares me the noninternational culture & the ways research is underpaid/underfunded)
