Aboard Te Karere, sailing through Vanuatu’s crystal-clear waters! 🌊⛵✨ Exploring, innovating, and making waves with the WakaLab team—stay tuned for the upcoming adventures! #wakalab#vanuatu#oceanadventures#boatlife#tetoki#waka
Thrilled to share our master's student Jaime's project! 🎉 Jaime's developing a gas sampling system for the Boxfish ROV with remote-controlled valves and Arduino-powered PCB. Integration with the Boxfish is next! 🚀 #ROV#Tech#MarineScience#Arduino#Boxfish
Beautiful lava becomes beautiful rocks! The rocks produced during volcanic eruptions carry textural and geochemical evidence for past eruptions and clues to what is happening beneath our feet.

Introducing our ROV! Working with technology from Boxfish Robotics, we're putting together a submarine division of Wakalab to explore the underwater world of Aotearoa and the Pacific's submarine Volcanoes.

One of the WakaLab goals is to connect with as many local people as possible at each volcano. To share the findings we achieve with our unique instruments, and to learn from local peoples’ invaluable observations of activity at each volcano. #wellington_uni#haosblongvolkeno
Our drones allow us to take samples in places that we couldn’t possibly hope to reach otherwise. Here, a quadcopter is being used to take a sample of gas for the analysis of carbon isotopes in CO2 from Ambrym volcano.

The WakaLab team will be traveling with a suite of instruments to try and measure all the components of the plumes emitted from Vanuatu’s volcanoes - including the major and trace gases, and aerosols.

Quite excited to see the Waka Lab @lab_waka taking shape! It’s been years of Ian talking about sailing a Waka around the South Pacific, combining traditional Melanesian sailing expertise⛵️with volcano monitoring to be nimble and flexible as they move through volcanic islands.
