Figure skating is not able to attract Gen Z audience who definitely have no interest in a sport where Moulin Rouge is still haunting in 2023.

@op_szk @ISU_Figure Lol. In his senior debut season a world’s bronze medal is already a good result for a men skater. What can be laughed about? Shoma got 7th in 1st senior worlds, Nathan was 6th, Yuzuru even didn’t make it to the worlds in his first senior season.

@MaryHos67781292 @ISU_Figure Like it or not, jumping has the highest value in single skating, so skaters having more difficult jumps (quads) have great advantage over others TES wise. Ilia’s free skate has a bv of 106.66 (new wr) while Kevin’s is only 78.80... You can tell how big the gap is.

@ISU_Figure 2). But he really has good jumping technique. His clean jumps were so underrated. I don’t get it. Isn’t this also unfair? Skaters with better skating skills and artistry should win pcs wise, but that doesn’t mean skaters with better jumps should be lowballed TES wise to lose!

@ISU_Figure 1).I just took a look at Ilia’s score sheet. I don’t understand why Ilia’s clean jump combos at the 2nd half received such low GOEs. Some judges even gave him 0. A clean combo doesn’t deserve any plus GOE? I understand his component is not there yet, so his pcs can be justified.

@NotPurfect07 @USFigureSkating You can watch ice dance instead where there’s no jumps and full of emotional and beautiful skate (I always thought Jason Brown should’ve switched to ice dance). Singles skating has jumps and jumps are the most important part of it (the highest value), like it or not.

@goldenskate @talfigure That’s the right direction. No more 4A. It’s not worthwhile any more since the record has been set. Focus on stablizing the other quads such as 4lz and 4f can be more rewarding. Plus putting more energy into the components side.

@jolicoeur11 @ISU_Figure If jumping does not attract you, you should go watch ice dance where there is no jumping at all. Without jumps, singles skating is a dead sport. Malinin has the most difficult jump layout. Although with some errors(no fall, not too bad), he deserved his place.

@Kamila02859606 @rockerskating It will be wonderful for Ilia if he can follow the path of Nathan Chen. In Beijing olympic quad, Nathan’s jumping consistency and artistry enormously grew, and he became invincible and eventually the olympic gold medalist. I wish Ilia the same.
