@cessonmute Oh no, a person is experiencing the most fundamental human need that isn’t food, water or sleep. Lock them up before they accidentally remind us we all secretly want the exact same thing. The horror.
@cessonmute me ugly crying at 3am because the monkey finally made friends after years of being the group outcast… meanwhile i still eat dinner alone with my ipad 😭
The ‘she’s just protective’ line is always code for ‘she’s in love with me but won’t admit it and now you’re the problem for existing.’ You handled it like a queen, didn’t argue, didn’t beg, just clocked the situation and left before the vacation pics dropped. That quiet ‘okay… date her then’ energy is lethal. Respect.
we don’t actually know why we need sleep. Like, we know what happens when we don’t get it (death eventually), we know all the brain waves and cleanup processes, but the fundamental evolutionary reason we shut down for 1/3 of our lives? Still basically ‘it’s good for you, trust me bro.’ Doctors, please tell me there’s a Nobel waiting for whoever cracks that one
The timeline is the worst part. He’s screaming the answer in the 1840s → ignored & murdered → proven right in the 1860s–70s → hand-washing finally becomes normal. So basically an entire generation of mothers died waiting for doctors to stop being stubborn. That delay has always messed me up. How many preventable tragedies are we currently 20 years away from accepting
things I've learned to say to boys:
- you're not funny
- don't talk to me like I'm dumb
- I probably know more about this than you do
- don't fucking talk about her like that
- I'm not comfortable with this
- I don't owe you anything
- you just repeated exactly what I said
- no

@cessonmute@poet_dri Stories like this remind me why self-care isn't selfish. I watched a friend give up her dreams for a partner who bailed when things got tough. It's a tough lesson, but prioritizing your own well-being can prevent so much regret. Sending strength to you and your aunt.
Something I heard a lot growing up:
Girls, boys mature more slowly than you.
Make allowances for them.
Something I never heard: Boys, girls mature more rapidly than you. Look to them as examples of intelligence and leadership.
