There’s a heartbreaking and horrific story circulating about a one-year-old dog in China named Wangwang.

After she gave birth, a group of young people beat her two-week-old puppies to death with spiked sticks right in front of her. Once they were finished with the puppies, they tied a wire around the mother’s neck, dragged her while beating her with sticks, doused her in gasoline, and set her on fire.

While researching what happened, I came across a photo of the aftermath — her charred body still burning. There’s also a three-minute video of the attack on the mother. I accidentally saw the first few seconds before closing it: they had a wire around her neck, dragging her as they beat her.

I broke down crying, overwhelmed with rage, sadness, and a deep feeling of helplessness.
I’m only sharing this because the story is going viral, and since I only heard about it 20 minutes ago, many of you will likely see it soon too.

Please do not search for the videos or images. I immediately closed the video and blocked the account. Even though their intention may have been to expose cruelty in China, the graphic content is extremely disturbing.

Rest in peace, sweet Wangwang.

I’m so deeply sorry you were born into a place that failed to protect you. You didn’t deserve any of this unimaginable cruelty.

We will never forget you or your innocent puppies. We will speak up for you both — for the love, safety, and gentle companionship you both deserved but were so brutally denied.

You will not be silenced. Your story will live on.
